    Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool

Pogba takes it and beats the wall, but he can't quite get it to dip or curl enough to threaten the goal.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 42 mins

    Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool

Fabinho goes into the book for a foul on Greenwood right on the edge of the box. He definitely catches him on the boot. It is Alisson's fault, though, for a loose pass out.

    Dangerous free-kick, this.

  3. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool threaten. Superb play allows Milner to feed in Robertson behind the home defence. His chipped cross is put behind by a United player.

The resulting corner is half-cleared and then fired wide by Milner.

Well, this is better than the league game. By how much is debatable.

    Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool

Disappointing end to a promising United attack. Shaw is away and feeds in Rashford, who pokes the ball past Thiago and goes down. Everyone in the ground and watching knows that is not a free-kick, including the ref.

Pogba should have hit the target - it's a free header. He should have made Alisson work.

I said way back when if Ole turns things round I'd apologise. So here is my apology, I was wrong to say he was a terrible manager. I'm sorry.

It has been cancelled out since, but here is the goal that gave Liverpool the lead briefly in this game...

    Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool

Shaw takes the corner and Pogba is free to meet it. He gets underneath the ball, though, and heads over. That is a chance, especially to a player of Pogba's class.

Now Man Utd have a corner as a Shaw free-kick is headed over his own bar by Williams.

    Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool

Poor control from Maguire gives Liverpool a corner. The Reds take it short and quickly and ultimately waste it as Salah is dispossessed by Pogba.

It's a risky formation having Pogba in a midfield two but makes for an interesting game. Liverpool to win 3-2

Two really well taken goals although I am not sure either defence will be too happy with how they came about.

Mason Greenwood only needed two touches to turn Marcus Rashford's crossfield pass into a goal, which shows how lethal he is.

  14. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool

Man Utd are in again. Van de Beek is goal side of the away defence an draws out Alisson, but his poked finish fails to go anywhere and his tangle of legs with the goalkeeper is not going to result in a penalty, despite the calls from the home side.

This started with a big tackle from Paul Pogba on the edge of his own box, but the ball from Marcus Rashford was incredible. It teases James Milner, inches over his head but thankfully for United it falls to one of the best finishers at the club.

GOAL - Man Utd 1-1 Liverpoolpublished at 26 mins

    Mason Greenwood

He didn't score this goal, but take a bow Marcus Rashford. After a big tackle from Paul Pogba on the edge of his own box to deny Firmino, United break and shift the ball wide left for Rashford.

He fires an absolute worldy of a pass over James Milner and into the feet of the onrushing Mason Greenwood, who finishes low past Alisson.

Now we've got a game on our hands.

RegularJon: This is the trouble with United at the moment. Need a hundred chances to score, get the opposition who’ve done very little score from their first chance.

M: Cavani could be put CB and perform better than the united back 4. Says a lot when your striker is the best defensive player on the pitch

Alexander-Arnold looks to float the free-kick over the wall and in. He completes part one but also clears the crossbar.

Now then. Liverpool have a dangerous free-kick on the edge of the United box after Firmino is taken down by a lazy, hung-out boot from McTominay.

  20. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool are picking United's pocket in their own half through a high press. The home side again lose the ball and it allows Curtis Jones to move to the edge of the box and fire a low shot straight at Henderson.
