Wednesday defend the corner well and then play out nicely, Barry Bannan switching play with ease. It comes to nothing but Wednesday have shown enough to suggest that they shouldn't be languishing in the drop zone.

James Rodriguez whips in a lovely corner which Dominic Calvert-Lewin nearly meets. That's another corner though.

Everton have plenty of players up - when they attack they've got two, three, four or five in the box there. Ben Godfrey has had a good start to his Everton career and a good start to this game.

Kadeem Harris is giving him some questions to answer though, he's not got by him yet but he's not giving up.

The first query from BBC Sport HQ about extra time. We don't need that on a marathon Sunday. It's already eight-and-a-half hours since our first game kicked off.

Sharp, quick play, passing zipping along the ground. Everton really starting to bring some confidence into the game, especially from the front midfielders.

Beautiful football, that. Richarlison now wins a corner.

Ahhh, that's brilliant football! No surprise that James Rodriguez is at the heart of it as Everton knit together three one-twos, passing round Wednesday like cones on the training pitch. It ends up with Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting a shot in which isn't hit true enough and Joe Wildsmith can make the stop.

Another save for Everton's Robin Olsen but that's a more routine one - Owls debutant Andre Green cuts on to his right foot and curls in from wide left and it's straight at the Swede. Decent hit though.

More neat passing, James to Andre Gomes into the run of Ben Godfrey from left back but he just can't get there. Everton looking incisive.

I thought it was a brilliant run, I thought it looked to be okay, I am slightly surprised. They obviously have a better angle than me and we've got the VAR this is what we have it for.

Well that's very nearly a lovely goal! Andre Gomes is given too much time and space in midfield and threads a dreamy pass between two defenders and Richarlison clips it into the corner.

The flag is up though. The number seven has his head in his hands, he can't believe it - but yeah, he's off.

Sheffield Wednesday doing a better job of shutting Everton out now, they are well drilled and in a good shape out of possession.

But...

Richarlison now drifts out left and flashes in a cracking cross that DCL is close to meeting.

If you think back to the beginning of the season Everton had a brilliant start, everyone to choose from, Allan, Richarlison - it looked so fabulously balanced but you wondered what they do with a few suspensions and injuries and I think it is quite noticeable. But Carlo Ancelotti is a wily old chap and he's managed to get the best of them regardless.
