Good defending by Ezri Konsa, which is a waste of time. Nathan Redmond feeds in Danny Ings. We all know he's offside but they let play continue. Ings runs in and Konsa brilliantly blocks his shot. I guess he couldn't take the risk that VAR would discover he was onside.

A strange one from Villa. Tyrone Mings plays the ball back to his keeper from about 45 yards out. You'd expect Emiliano Martinez to rush out and clear but he takes his time and only just beats Danny Ings to the ball.

That's a second shot on target. Danny Ings has a crack from about 25 yards but it's straight at Emiliano Martinez.

Southampton have still only had one shot on target (out of 13 in total). Nathan Redmond cuts the ball back to Stuart Armstrong, who curls wide from 20 yards.

Villa can't clear a free-kick and Danny Ings feeds the substitute, who just beats the offside trap but then has a shot saved by the diving Villa keeper.

As things stand Villa are up to eighth and Southampton remain 11th.
