Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita signed a new deal with the club yesterday and has gone for the Slim Shady look.

That 82-second red card just beat Liam O'Brien's in January 1987, when he was sent off 85 seconds into a meeting between these same two teams at The Dell.

    That game ended 1-1.

Nathan Wake: You know it’s a bad tackle when not a single person protests at the red card. You can see the stud marks half way up the thigh. Horrendous.

How stupid was that challenge, absolutely ridiculous. What possessed him to do that?

Mike Dean was in a really good position to see it - it was very, very high and very, very late.

It was one of those, his first tackle of the game and he just got it, unfortunately for him, spectacularly wrong.

It’s just a really, really poor challenge but it wasn’t deliberate, it was just a split second late.

You can see the stud marks down McTominay's inner left thigh.

  16. 'We are fighting for our lives'published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2021

FT: Sheffield United 2-1 West Brom

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder: "We needed a big second half performance. We huffed and puffed in the first half. It's a really disappointing one from our point of view [conceding the first goal]. The second half was a lot better, more us. We were on the front foot and driving the opponents back.

"It was always not going to be a free-flowing game with the two teams in the situations they are in. We were just a bit slow in the first half. I thought we were okay without really dominating or creating many clear-cut chances. We just had to let ourselves go a little bit which we did in the second half. We were more ambitious.

"It was always going to be a tough game. They had nothing to lose. It's always going to go to the end. It was a tight game and a nervy end. We are delighted to get a result. We just keep moving on."

On Billy Sharp scoring: "He was coming off! It's the life and times of a manager. It's a decent finish for us. We had to gamble in the second half so to get the goal is great for him.

"We have to keep going. We need to play in the manner we did in the second half. Just because we have won a couple of games recently, it's the Premier League and it hurts you. I have a group that are alive and kicking and fighting for their lives."

That was an awful challenge from a player who was making his full Premier League debut.

Jankewitz is only 19 but he can't get away with that. I don't think Ralph Hassenhuttl can quite believe it.

  19. RED CARD TO SOUTHAMPTONpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2021

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

    ALL GOING OFF!!

Alexandre Jankewitz has been sent off for Southampton in the third minute!

The 19-year-old Swiss midfielder is overly pumped up on his full Premier League debut and catches Scott McTominay with a nasty, high challenge on top of the Scotland international's thigh and referee Mike Dean needs no second invitation to brandish the red card.

Definitely a dismissal and Southampton have to play with 10 men for 87 minutes.

Newcastle take the lead in the opening minute and what a hit it is from Jonjo Shelvey, latching on to Callum Wilson's knockdown and drilling in a rasping finish from the edge of the area.

    A proper Shelveyyyyyy goal.
