  1. Bruno Fernandes wants to win at everythingpublished at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

    Man Utd 3-2 Liverpool

    BBC Sport

It is hard to believe Bruno Fernandes has been at Manchester United for less than 12 months.

In recent times, it is hard to recall a player having such a huge impact on a club's fortunes, although, clearly, the season is only at its halfway stage.

Fernandes says his winning mentality has been with him since he was a child.

"I always was like this," he said. "I don't like to lose. I don't conform with the idea that losing games is normal stuff. For me, losing is not normal.

"Also playing whatever it is, when I was playing with my friends, my brother, with my neighbours, I want to win every time.

"This mentality will be with me for the rest of my life, I think."

  2. Tired? At 26? - Fernandes rejects rest talkpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

    Man Utd 3-2 Liverpool

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Amongst other things, Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was asked if he needs a rest.

    Apparently not judging by this

"Tired?” he said. "At 26 years of age, I can’t be tired.

"If I am tired now, when I get to 30 or 32, I won’t be able to play or I will play one game out of every five. No, I am not tired."

  3. Great moment - but I want a trophypublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

    Man Utd 3-2 Liverpool

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Bruno Fernandes has been speaking about his match-winner against Liverpool yesterday.

Fernandes' late free-kick earned Manchester United a memorable victory in their FA Cup fourth round tie with Jurgen Klopp's men and booked a date with West Ham in the last 16.

"Every goal is a great moment, every win is a great moment for us," he said.

"Personally, of course, scoring the last goal in a game like this against one of the biggest rivals we have is always important.

"But I think the most important moment in Manchester, in the club, will club when I get a trophy."

  4. Fabulous Fernandespublished at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Now just recapping quickly, there was a lot of FA Cup chat earlier.

Particularly around this guy. And when you watch this Bruno Fernandes free-kick, why not!

  5. Silva thanks for Lampardpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has taken to Twitter and Instagram , externalto thank Frank Lampard and his staff for helping him to settle at the club.

Get Involved - Are Chelsea right to sack Lampard?published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Abdul: Not a huge shock to me that Lampard has been sacked. He bought a world-class team that just hasn't delivered and some of that may be due to his tactical formation, urgency needed in games and challenging the big teams in the league, harsh but fair.

  7. 'No romance in Lampard exit'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

    Chelsea v LutonImage source, gett

When Frank Lampard was appointed Chelsea manager in July 2019, many wondered whether it was evidence of a new and previously undetected sentimental streak in the club owner Roman Abramovich.

However, this piece, which is on the money from our chief football writer Phil McNulty, says any notions that Abramovich had suddenly got romantic or sentimental, were swept away in brutal fashion with Lampard's dismissal.

It feels important that Tuchel fails, just so that Roman isn't rewarded for this...

    Kai

Lampard to Celtic? Would certainly make the SPL more interesting next year.

    Pete

Robert Kaye: On one hand Lampard had little experience and no success and was probably the only option under a transfer ban but hasn't been good enough for Roman's liking with the money spent but on the other hand he's a young manager who needs time to build which he deserved.

Warren Axe: As a Chelsea fan, I saw this coming. It was just a matter of when? Lampard should have known better. Sad to see him go! He needed to get some experience under his belt before taking on such a big club!

  9. Lampard's focus on youthpublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Tammy Abraham (centre) celebrates with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Billy GilmourImage source, Getty Images

Apparently Frank Lampard gave 12,545 minutes of Premier League action to 11 different players aged 21 or younger during his time at Chelsea.

Both of these tallies were more than any other club over the same period.

I get that his hands were initially tied on transfers but that is still some going.

Whoever comes in next (and by all accounts it is going to be Thomas Tuchel) has got a decent complement of battle-ready young players to work with.

  10. 'He hasn't been given time' - Rodgers on Lampardpublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Everton v Leicester (Wed, 20:15 GMT)

    Leicester City

Brendan Rodgers, who was a former youth team coach at Chelsea, looks like he's in the same boat.

The Leicester boss reckons that Frank Lampard has not been given enough time at Stamford Bridge.

"Clearly I'm really sad for Frank and his staff. I know how much the club means to him," he said.

"Looking at the squad and how young they are, they need time. He hasn't been given that time. I really feel for him. He did great at Derby.

"He had the courage to step out of an amazing career and could have taken an easier route. It was a job he couldn't turn down, even though he didn't have a lot of experience.

"Results haven't been what he would have wanted, but I feel it's a job that needed time."

  11. Postpublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Got some sympathy for Frank Lampard.

What are Chelsea? Five points off fourth place in the Premier League and with a decent run of games coming up.

  12. Rodgers looks ahead to Evertonpublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Everton v Leicester (Wed, 20:15 GMT)

    Leicester City

One man whose name has been mentioned a few times in our get involved topic with the Chelsea job is Brendon Rodgers.

The Leicester City manager looks ahead to his high-flying side's trip to Everton on Wednesday.

"We’ve scored over 50 goals this season. Jamie Vardy's got 13 of those, so you look at the other guys, Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Youri Tielemans… The responsibility for goals is with the team."

Rodgers had praise for his opposite number Carlo Ancelotti but is hoping he gets the better of him this time around after Everton sealed a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture in December.

"They’ve had real investment in their team and Carlo Ancelotti is a world-class manager with big experience.

We arrive into this game at a different moment [to our last meeting with Everton].

Hopefully we can put in a much better performance."

I feel like Chelsea and I have broken up.

    Luke

A Chelsea fan for 55 years, but no longer. Given another season Frank would have been an outstanding Chelsea manager.

    Iain

Thomas Tuchel, no experience in the Premier League, always falls out with the hierarchy, been sacked by Dortmund and PSG... I give him a year.

    Jake

William McHorse: Absolutely disgraceful the way Frank has been treated. I hope Roman sells up and a new owner brings Frank back!

  14. Big Sam's 'a genius' - Peppublished at 14:16 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

West Brom v Man City (Tues, 20:15GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was in talkative mood today - and looked quite well if it is possible to judge these things through the lens of a Zoom press conference.

He was full of praise for West Brom boss Sam Allardyce, hailing him as 'a genius' for the work he does at the other end of the league compared to the sides he manages.

"Sam Allardyce is a genius at taking over at these teams where everyone believes its over," said Guardiola.

"If it happens once or twice it’s lucky but not in this case as he’s done it I don’t know how many times."

West Brom are the last team to avoid defeat against Manchester City, back in December in what proved to be Slaven Bilic's last game as Baggies boss.

  15. 'I'm sure he'll come back and learn from it' - Moyes on Lampardpublished at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Crystal Palace v West Ham (Tue, 18:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes: "I'm disappointed for Frank as I saw him as one of the most up and coming young English managers in the country.

"It's a big thing we try to encourage our own British managers into the big leagues, if we can. I'm sure he'll come back and learn from it.

"He did a great job last year. He did a really good job with so many youngsters coming through the academy

"It seemed a little bit harder for him this year. I'm sure he'll take time off, come back and get better."

  16. 'It’s part of the business'published at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Southampton v Arsenal (Tue, 20:15 GMT)

    Southampton

Here's Ralph Hasenhuttl on Frank Lampard’s sacking: "It’s not interesting what my reaction was, I have other issues in the moment to think about. It’s part of the business."

    Cheers Ralph.

  17. 'We're expecting a difficult game' - Potterpublished at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Brighton v Fulham (Wed, 19:30 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter is giving an update on his side's injuries ahead of Fulham's visit to the Amex Stadium on Wednesday.

Adam Lallana and Aaron Connolly have both trained in the last few days, a chance for both to be involved but Danny Welbeck and Tariq Lamptey will miss out.

"We're expecting a difficult game, credit to Scott Parker because he's done a fantastic job there.

"They've made some changes and they can transition well with good attacking players and an organised unit behind them."

  18. Team newspublished at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

    Southampton v Arsenal (20:15 GMT)

    Southampton

Saints will be without full-backs Ryan Bertrand and Kyle Walker-Peters.

Bertrand is suspended and Walker-Peters, whose cross led to an Arsenal own goal in the FA Cup at the weekend, has sustained a muscle injury in training.

Good news for fans is that midfielder Nathan Redmond will be on the bench.

As a Chelsea fan who goes to matches home and away, I'm absolutely fuming at this decision. If they can't give Lampard time during a Covid plagued season, then who is going to get time? The manager merry go round continues. I'm going to be handing in my season ticket and going to my local non-league club.

    John

Absolutely the right decision letting Lampard go. Inherited a squad that finished 3rd under Sarri and won the Europa League and has taken it backwards.

    Michael

Very harsh, but this is where lack of experience has cost frank. When you've got no CV you can't point to your experience and show you've got a track record of turning things around.

    Rob

  20. Team newspublished at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

    Crystal Palace

BTW, Roy Hodgson said Wilfried Zaha will be back for Palace and that James Tomkins is out after picking up an injury in training.
