Newcastle v Leeds (Tue, 18:00 GMT)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle have been accused of playing not the most entertaining of football of late and they need players like Ryan Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin back playing to steer clear of the relegation zone.

"The other night for 20 minutes was one of the first times, for one reason or another, we've had Ryan Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin on the pitch together.

"Let's hope they can both stay well because they can provide the ammunition we need."

  5. Too soon to start Saint-Maximinpublished at 10:43 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

Newcastle v Leeds (Tue, 18:00 GMT)

    Newcastle United

Another man under the cosh is Newcastle boss Steve Bruce.

His side are winless in 10 games and slipped to 16th after Friday night's defeat against Aston Villa.

The Magpies host Leeds tomorrow and Bruce provided some team news.

"I would think it's a bit too soon for Allan Saint-Maximin to start. We'll see how he is today. He's played 25 minutes and had a week of training in eight weeks so we have to box clever."

"I don't think Ciaran Clark, Federico Fernández and Paul Dummett will be quite right. We'll see how Manquillo is. He is one of the victims of having injury and Covid issues so we'll make an assessment on him today. He's 50/50 for the game."

  7. Allardyce on West Brom transferspublished at 10:32 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

West Brom v Manchester City (Tue, 20:15 GMT)

    West Bromwich Albion

The Baggies are after a front man and have been linked with Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke and Newcastle's Andy Carroll and Allardyce has had his say on both players.

"I am not sure if Christian is available. If they came to me and said he was available. I am not sure that is the case at the moment. If he is available I would be interested, everybody knows I am interested in a front man. We have had many players on the radar but not able to secure that player yet."

Asked about Andy Carroll: "That is a non-starter."

"It has always been an extremely difficult window.

"We want two more if we can possibly achieve it. Some people might not want to come and join the fight, it is difficult."

  10. 'We have to stop conceding goals'published at 10:22 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

West Brom v Manchester City (Tue, 20:15 GMT)

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce has held his press conference ahead of Manchester City's visit to The Hawthorns on Tuesday.

Allardyce is focusing his attention on the games he thinks his side should be getting points from and said that West Brom need to stop conceding goals.

The latter seems pretty obvious but may prove to be a task against a bang in form City side.

"We have to be at our very best from now until the end of the season. When you come to Fulham and Sheff Utd, we cannot afford to lose against those teams.

"If Man City beat us it wouldn’t be a shock. When it comes to Fulham and Sheff Utd it is a big focus for us.

"We are trying our best. I can’t criticise our players for their application. We are still slipping up with goals conceded. If we stop that, then we can look at scoring a goal to win us the game. We have only scored three times twice and against Wolves we got two penalties. We have to stop conceding goals."
