  1. Derby to clinch City's Robertspublished at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2021

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport reporter

Derby are hoping to clinch a deal for Manchester City striker Patrick Roberts before this evening’s deadline.

Wayne Rooney has been busy trying to bolster his squad today after the frustrations over the time taken for the club’s proposed takeover to go through.

Roberts signed a two-and-a-half year extension to his City contract in 2019, that is not due to run out until next year.

That will take his stay at the Etihad Stadium to seven years – but he has only played for them three times.

He has so far had seven different loan deals with four clubs and has been with Middlesbrough since January 2020.

Derby academy product Whittaker has represented England at all age groups from under-16 to under-20.

The Swans have also been linked with DC United's Paul Arriola.

Tom Art: I was in France the day Wales played Portugal in the Euro 2016 semi. I said to a local I was from Wales (Pays de Galles)...he'd never heard of it or Bale and co. But when my girlfriend said she's Irish, he immediately starts chanting "Will Grigg's on fire!". Typical!

Piers: Once upon a Grigg, I was in a nightclub that's in a cave at the top of a huge hill in Trinidad, Cuba. I made friends with the MC who foolishly gave me the mic only for me to sing 'Will Griggs on fire'.Sadly the Cubans weren't so aware...yet.

Ozan Kabak's Instagram post from 2018 was almost clairvoyant.

Will he be signing his own shirts and sending them out in a couple of years?

    Brighton sign Moises Caicedo

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter on Moises Caicdeo: "It’s no secret we have been working to bring Moises to the club, and we are very pleased he is finally here.

"He will need time to settle in with the group, for us to get to know him and vice versa, as well as get up to speed and ready for the demands of the Premier League.

"He has done very well in Ecuador and made his debut for his country at just 18. He’s an exciting signing, but it is important we give him time to adjust."

  15. 'More departures than arrivals'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2021

Chris Forryan, Leicester Till I Die podcast

    Leicester City

After the lack of business last January, which I believe cost us a Champions League place, I was looking forward to some signings this time.

However it looks like it will be more departures than arrivals with the emergence of our youngsters all doing well and coming through like Thomas along with the revival of the likes of Abrighton, Fuchs and Mendy and the return of Pereira.

Slimani has finally flown the nest and Gray has followed. A £30m loss on Slimani, but it does free up his wages and we hope that we finally get the striker as back up for Vardy we have been screaming for for the past four windows now. Edouard, known to Rodgers from his Celtic days and similar in style to Vardy is the strongest link and the one wanted by most Fox Fans.

Manchester United defender Teden Mengi has joined Derby on loan for the remainder of the season.

Rams boss Wayne Rooney has been unable to make new signings due to the protracted nature of an impending takeover.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut as a substitute in United’s Europa League last-16 tie with Austrian club LASK in August.
