  4. 'Davies has to show everyone what he can do'published at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2021

    Micah Richards
Former Man City defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Ben Davies will be pinching himself but as a player you can't get drawn in the emotional side. He is going there and is going to play and he has to show everyone what he can do at this level.

He is decent on the ball and can see a pass. It's a great opportunity and good to see a young British talent get a chance. Who knows, if he does well at Liverpool there's not too many left-sided defenders for England.

I hope he does really well and I'm absolutely delighted for him as these stories do not happen much.

  5. Davies a 'real hard-working learner'published at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2021

New Fleetwood Town boss Simon Grayson managed Liverpool's deadline day defensive signing Ben Davies at Preston between 2013 and 2017.

“He’s a lovely lad, he’s a real hard-working learner, a genuine kid who just wanted to keep improving.

"When we gave him the opportunities, when he was 19, 20, 21, I think he went out to Fleetwood and York City to get some game time, he jumped at the opportunity because it was great experience for him.

"All that experience at a young age has really given him that opportunity to break into the first team at Preston, really knuckle down and show his capabilities.

"To get a move to Liverpool has probably surprised a lot of people, but it’s a fantastic move for him and a great opportunity."

Joshua King has not scored in 12 Championship games this season. His only goals have been against Oldham and Crawley in the FA Cup.

Everton now look favourites to sign Bournemouth forward Josh King - and you can see why they would want to make an addition in that area.

Strikers Cenk Tosun and Moise Kean and now out on loan at Besiktas and Paris St-Germain respectively while young wide man Anthony Gordon is off to Preston North End on loan.

King, 29, can operate across the forward line and is blessed with lightning pace - whether he can transmit that back into the Premier League remains to be seen but the fee is unlikely to be exorbitant with his contract up this summer and Everton clearly feel it is a gamble that might just pay off.

The National League has written to all 66 clubs tonight to ask them if they want to end the season.

The clubs have been presented with four resolutions, the first of which is to allow the National League to be allowed to determine its short-term future, with the North and South Divisions deciding on theirs.

If that wish is granted, the two decisions will be made by a straight majority.

  18. King's new robes?published at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2021

Josh King's Wikipedia page says his current club is Everton. Do they know something we don't? Or has it just been edited by an optimistic Evertonian?

Michael (an optimistic Evertonian... who doesn't edit Wikipedia)

The Wikipedia page of former Cameroon left-back Pierre Wome once had a whole story about how he was a celebrity chef on Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement once and poisoned the guests causing them to throw up. I wouldn't trust everything you read on Wikipedia.
