That was a nice turn from Jorginho - first time Chelsea have managed to get any real quality in the middle of the field. Sheffield United have dominated that area so far - great turn, ball to Ben Chilwell and Chelsea again managing to get in down that left hand side but a good bit of defending.

Chelsea starting to dictate this match now. A lot lies in the hands of Jorginho and Matto Kovacic to break Sheffield United's midfield line and get it into the front three.

There has been some sterling defending from Kean Bryan so far. He scored in the win at Manchester United but missed a lot of last season through injury, having signed from Manchester City in the summer of 2018.

Chelsea currently clocking in at 78% possession. Have they used that to any decent end?

Another Chelsea corner, another waste. They take it short, work it along the edge of the box and then sloppily give it away.

I feel that if there are clear and obvious situations of offside you should raise your flag. That Ben Chilwell one to me seemed clear and obvious.

Chelsea can't say they haven't had the chance to fashion something. They win their fifth corner of the half, which is swung into the middle but smuggled away under pressure by the home side.

I think the general feeling is that this is not a huge amount of fun to watch.

Chelsea try to change that with a move down the left that ends with a Mount effort that is deflected wide.

The flag is up, though. Chilwell went a fraction early before delivering the low ball into the box.

Still waiting for a decent game of football to break out here. Too many passes going astray, mixed with unthreatening periods of unproductive possession.

Chelsea win another corner but they can't fashion anything from it. The ball remains near the Blades box before Antonio Rudiger belts an effort from range wide of the post.

I've now live texted on two hours of football today without a goal. I'm beginning to know how Timo Werner feels.

They've been fairly comfortable, Sheffield United, and they've been brave. They've been prepared to go man for man on that back line. They back themselves to take on that Chelsea strike force.

Jadon Bogle goes all Lionel Messi on us, weaving through about five men and into the box. But he turns down the chance to shoot and then watches on as his team-mate fail to get a subsequent effort in before Chelsea hack clear.

Andreas Christensen with a nice driving run forward, but he hesitates on the ball a second too long meaning Werner is offside when the pass comes his way.

Joe: Baffles me as to how Werner still manages to start in this Chelsea side when others are dropped for seemingly no reason.

Timo Werner is not the player Chelsea felt they were buying up to now. That's something theyll hope for having brought in Thomas Tuchel, that he'll be able to inspire or find the best way to play him.

He's operayiong in a different positon tonight, like a half number 10 - both him and Mason Mount playing just in the pockets off Olivier Giroud.
