It was coming. Burnley were getting down the flanks on numerous occasions. Johann Gudmundsson just takes it really well, cuts back onto his left foot and curls it into the bottom corner. The two centre-halves did not deal with the ball at all. They just left it to Gudmundsson. Great finish. He had a lot to do. He had his back to goal, but that finish was superb.

Poor defending and Burnley take full advantage!

Two Palace players go for an Erik Pieters cross, Scott Dann succeeds only in deflecting the ball to the feet of Jóhann Gudmundsson, who drives in from close range.

More important glove chat - all of the glove wearing is being done by Crystal Palace players, none of the Burnley lot have them on.

It is Palace who have settled the better, though, as Christian Benteke attempts to register the first shot on goal but his scooped effort just inside the box is blocked.

Andy Reid, look away now. I am seeing A LOT of gloves at Selhurst Park.

It is -1 to be fair.

  8. 'Our reaction was superb'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    Leicester 3-1 Liverpool

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers to BBC Sport: "It was a very good win, the players deserved it.

"We didn't sink when we went a goal behind, we stayed calm and the players were brilliant in that period, a real collective team performance. You can see the improvement in the team's mindset. Our reaction was superb."

  9. 'Want to establish ourselves as a top team'published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Leicester 3-1 Liverpool

    Leicester City

Leicester midfielder James Maddison to BBC MOTD: "Brilliant to beat them. It shows how far we have come. We went a goal down last year after playing some good stuff. Now it shows how far we have come because we went a goal down but didn't panic. We had a little change in shape and that changed the dynamic a little bit. With them missing Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in the middle they are probably a little more vulnerable on the counter-attack at the minute.

"It was a brilliant time for us to start then we looked a threat for the rest of the game. Harvey Barnes has given a lot of full-backs a tough time. He is a terrific player. He is direct and fast. If you keep giving him the ball he will produce something for us. He won the free-kick for the goal. Credit to him, he was fantastic today, especially in the second half. As an attacking player you always have to chip in with goals and assists.

"The mentality has changed now. The heartache of not finishing in the Champions League last season has probably helped us in the long run. We sat down and looked at why we didn't qualify. We are back in Europe this week and in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup so we are in a good position. We want to establish ourselves as a top team in the league now."

I love the basics that they get right at Burnley. Things like no gloves. I know that seems like a little thing but we're a little bit soft at times.

It's little things like that, little bits of discipline and Burnley seem to have those traits running through the club.

Neither team have been free-scoring this season. It’s the start of a big week for Burnley who are looking to increase their gap from the relegation zone.

  13. 'Clear game we should win'published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Leicester 3-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC MOTD: "It was a clear game that we should win. We played good football, dominated possession, took the game out of Leicester but apart from that we were really top in the game. We scored a goal, could have and should have scored more, whatever. Everything fine and then penalty, free-kick, offside, not offside, goal. That had a proper impact. That is something that has to change. The first goal for me is offside. The difference is we think it's an objective thing but it's not.

"Three players offside for Leicester but it was decided to take another moment in the game. That is how it is. The second goal is a misunderstanding obviously. It is a situation where we should shout and I didn't hear anyone shout. It is not that cool. The third goal I really don't like. We are so open. I cannot accept. That was it. The performance for 75 minutes or so was outstanding then we lost 3-1. That shows what a tricky situation we are in."

On James Milner's injury: "Hamstring. Hopefully it is only a little bit but we did not want to take the risk."

  14. 'I'm proud of the team'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    Leicester 3-1 Liverpool

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers to BT Sport: "I am very proud of the team. A year ago if we'd have gone behind we would have got nothing from it.

"We had good chances in the first half but we needed to be more aggressive. Second half we were much better and we attacked with aggression, we adapted really well to a plan if we went behind.

"We went to two up front with a diamond so when the game broke down for them we could exploit it. We had to fight, to run, to work - and then we had the quality to get the goals.

"Whatever we are asking the players to achieve with important players missing they are doing. There is a long way to go, 14 games, we are not getting carried away with anything."

  15. 'It's not us out there'published at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Leicester 3-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson speaking to BT Sport: "A huge blow, you can say that. For large parts of the game we were dominant and then that's not us out there. One setback - we've been so good at bouncing back and staying in the game but we were opened up and we played into their hands. We were 2-1 down with 15 minutes to go but we opened completely up. When that happens against a really good Leicester team you will get punished.

"We played with a lot of confidence for large parts of the game - played the ball really well. Then I don't know what happened in the last 10-15 minutes. It can't happen in a game like this. We really need to look at that. Every game is massive for us now. We need to put an end to it."

  16. 'First goal was the turning point'published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    Leicester 3-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to BT Sport: "We conceded a goal, a really tough one to take, it was a turning point in the game on VAR. I have seen it and when they stop the situation it looks a clear offside - that's it. The second goal is a misunderstanding, we said they need to get used to each other and they were fine for 75 minutes, it was a really good game. On the pitch we were the clear dominant side. We had chances and then we concede two goals.

"We were much too open at that moment and that is not OK. Alisson had a super game and then at that moment he came out, I didn't hear him shouting.

"The turning point was the first goal, We changed too much with one goal, that's the criticism for us. We didn't react well."

Leicester go into second place. Liverpool looking over their shoulder. Will they even make Champions League?

That centre back position is the Achilles heel. Credit Leicester. They soaked up the pressure and won the game.

What does that win for Leicester do to the table? Well they are up to second while Liverpool are fourth. They could drop to seventh by the next time they play, however...

  19. 'We have so much quality'published at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Leicester 3-1 Liverpool

    Leicester City

Leicester midfielder James Maddison speaking to BT Sport: "We know when we play Liverpool, it's going to be tough because they can do both parts of the game very well. It's a case of staying in the game. We're a top team and we know we will get chances.

"We were solid throughout. The more they start going for it the more space opens up for [Harvey] Barnes on the counter-attack so we utilised that brilliantly I think.

"I don't know what was going through my head and I think Anthony Taylor was lost too. He was getting told this and that - it's a penalty, a free-kick... Daniel [Amartey] claimed the touch and got a flick-on it but it turned out to be onside. That was a big moment for us to kick on in the game.

"Jamie Vardy sniffs out little opportunities. It was a mix-up between the goalkeeper and the centre-half. It's just one of those things. You can't look into it too much. Alisson is having a tough time at the moment but he is a top keeper and I'm sure he will be back. I'm just happy we could pounce on that mistake.

"It's another three points away at Liverpool. We take it game by game. We have so much quality in the squad. We have a lot of injuries by the way. It doesn't really get talked about because we're not the 'big six' but we are utilising the squad brilliantly. We are right up there and we're not up there by fluke. We will keep working and grinding out results against big teams like Liverpool. It's about taking the big moments. We weren't at our best to be honest but I'll take those big moments."

  20. 'Under all sorts of pressure'published at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    Andy Reid
Ex-Republic of Ireland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's going to be interesting to see where Liverpool finish at the end of the season. They're under all sorts of pressure now. They need to come together, ride this storm and come out the other side.

They have been magnificent for a few years but it's a fight for them to finish in the top-four at the minute.
