    Manchester City 1-0 Tottenham

Should be 2-0 to be honest. Lovely football form City as Raheem Sterling skins Ben Davies and cuts the ball back to you-know-who Ilkay Gundogan in the middle.

The in-form man shoots and Davinson Sanchez makes a wonderful stretching block. Joao Cancelo then puts his cutback a bit behind Gabriel Jesus and his shot clips the top of the bar on the way over.

A better pass and that's probably two.

Jose Mourinho was furious just then.

Firstly he thought his side should have had a free-kick they didn't get, then they conceded one.

He had something in his hand and threw it onto the pitch in disgust before fourth official Craig Pawson wandered over to tell him to calm down.

He has been onto the pitch to pick up whatever it was - and threw it away again, this time behind him.

Interesting Jonathan! I've been saying for a while that I've got doubts over Hugo Lloris - he seems to have an aversion to actually making any saves. He just falls over near the ball.

I'm still not sold on the idea of bringing Joe Hart on though.

Seth Gogo Egoeh: How is Lamela starting ahead of Bale, Bergwijn and Alli? His decision making has been terrible in this game. Spurs are playing with 10 men with him on the pitch. Change it, Jose.

Jonathan Spencer: Enough is enough, bench Lloris and bring in Hart. Terrible vs Everton, and really should have saved that Rodri penalty. Wrong decision from Mourinho to sell Gazzaniga. World Cup winner or not, Lloris is finished

We used to have Keane v Vieira but these days Lamela v Jesus is about as feisty as it gets.

They're at it again with a wildish slide each and the referee decides that's a free-kick for City but nothing more.

A very optimistic shout from Raheem Sterling for another penalty as his volley hits the hand of Ben Davies. He was about a yard away but who knows these days.

    Nothing is given.

Dax Fullbrook: Only a couple of seasons ago the team sheet used to make a Spurs fan tingle with excitement. Now, with almost the same squad it makes you sad.

Tom: How many penalties have Spurs given away this season?! Absolutely outrageous defensive discipline, and a big surprise from a Mourinho team...

Bernardo Silva does well to get away from pressure just outside the area but his shot is well charged down. Phil Foden, who has swapped wings with Raheem Sterling, then puts in a cross which Eric Dier clears out.

Der Kaiser: Can Spurs fans give it a rest about Hojbjerg please? Made 2 mistakes against Everton and another today. So bad on the ball as well.

Bernardo Silva is the first man in the book for an over zealous lunge in midfield. Spurs have responded pretty well to going behind but have yet to trouble Ederson.

    Shamsheer Chelsea: Never a pen

Liz Tray: What a total farce of a penalty. Ilkay is limping so doesn't take it; Ederson wants to, is pushed away by Bernardo; Rodri, a guy who should not take it, steps up; Lloris flubs it into the net. Is anyone in charge??! Get it together. Very lucky to be up.

It looked a penalty to me. Anyway some pen stats:

    • Only Leicester (10) have been awarded more penalties in the PL this season than Man City (7 - level with Man Utd and Chelsea)
    • No side has conceded more goals from the penalty spot in the PL this season than Spurs (6 - level with Leeds, Wolves, Brighton)

Mike Scott: If that was outside of the box, would it have been given as a free kick to City? I doubt it.

Michael Reid: Things like that should never a penalty... Gundogan lost the ball and there wasn't a chance of anything resulting from it. Soft.

    Only just!

Rodri hits it hard and low but it's not in the corner and Hugo Lloris gets a hand on it. The ball flies up and into the roof of the net though and Manchester City lead.

Ederson was interested in taking this I think but he's been sent back! Rodri is on it instead.

    BOOOO.

  18. PENALTY to MAN CITYpublished at 21 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Tottenham

Jose Mourinho is wagging his finger in disagreement but that's a penalty. Ilkay Gundogan runs into the area on the left, turns iinside and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg makes contact. Doesn't get the ball, penalty.

Can City score a pen for once?!

Just as we were discussing that Harry Kane doesn't hit many free-kicks as well as that chance - I can tell you that he has failed to score with each of his last 37 attempts from direct free-kicks in the Premier League, scoring with his first such effort in the competition vs Aston Villa in November 2014.

    Manchester City 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs play out from the back really nicely and find Harry Kane in that pocket of space on halfway he likes. He normally clips Son away on goal from there but City are wise to it and he has to come back. A good spell from the visitors though.
