    Leeds 0-1 Aston Villa

El Ghazi looks to add to his early opener, cutting back on to his left foot before firing a shot that Illan Meslier has to push over with one hand.

Two corners follow, both of which see a huge amount of jostling in the middle. The second is headed clear at the near post.

Oh, big chance for Leeds. Raphinha cuts in from the left and sees a shot blocked but the ball breaks for Tyler Roberts, whose effort is parried by Emiliano Martinez.

Paul Collins: Great defending by Leeds for that Villa goal... not. Absolutely laughable defending.

Kev: Surely this pitch isn’t up to standard for a Premiership game? It’s not even National League standard!

Tom Sharpe: This Leeds pitch is bloody awful.

Two almost identical incidents at the start of this game. Bamford slips in shooting but the ball narrowly evades Raphina. Watkins slips in shooting but sets up El Ghazi perfectly. Bad luck and good luck.

    Anwar El Ghazi

Villa lead! It is another slip, this time from Watkins as he goes to shoot, but this time the ball falls to Anwar El Ghazi, who is played onside by the heel of Liam Cooper and slots in.

El Ghazi doesn't celebrate, presumably thinking his off, but he's not.

    The visitors are ahead.

We've already seen a couple of players slip on the pitch. This new surface has been a tough one for the players to stay upright on in the few games played on it so far.

    Leeds 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa hit back and win a corner, which is swung in and cleared, but not before a big shout for handball from the Villa players. It did hit Luke Ayling's arm as it dropped, but his limb was down by his side. Clearly accidental and not in an unnatural position.

Oh, almost a foal inside the first minute. Patrick Bamford gets away down the right and slips in looking to shoot, causing the ball to bounce towards Raphinha at the back post. he attempts to acrobatically steer the ball towards goal but can't make contact.

  11. Lawro's predictionpublished at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

Leeds v Aston Villa (17:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Leeds were really strong against Southampton in midweek and won without Kalvin Phillips in their team.

The only other time that has happened this season came when they beat Aston Villa in the reverse of this fixture in October. Phillips is still injured and I am going for the same outcome again this time.

I've talked before about how Phillips knits Leeds together and they are not the same without him - well, we found out what Villa are like without Jack Grealish when they lost to Leicester at the weekend. They looked ordinary against the Foxes.

    Prediction: 2-0

  12. 'Not a one-man team'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

Leeds v Aston Villa (17:30 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith speaking to Sky Sports: "I wanted to get some more energy in the middle of the pitch as we lacked intensity against Leicester last week. I've freshened it up by bringing in Marvelous Nakamba and Jacob Ramsey. They've done well for us this season and I'm sure they will again today."

On the absence of Jack Grealish: "We're not a one-man team. We've got some good players who have excelled in the Premier League this season. It's an opportunity today for them to prove how good they are again.

On Leeds United: "Leeds are a very good team with their own way of playing and you have to try and combat that. The pitch isn't great but it's the same for both teams. It's been tough this year for pitches but you have to cope with it the best you can.

  13. "The referee came over and explained'published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    West Brom 1-0 Brighton

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss Sam Allardyce speaking to MOTD: "I am just laughing about how bizarre this game was. Obviously the most important thing for us was a clean sheet and a corner we converted very well. Lots of chances after that for both teams, we managed to get the one and they managed to not score any of theirs...

"Not as good a performance as I expected but the most important result, sometimes only the result matters, in our position that is all that matters today.

"Two penalties, I can't say the first one is, it is bizarre the rules if that's a penalty. VAR, the referee say that is a penalty, ludicrous if that's the way the game is going. I don't have any complaints about the second one. I will accept that one. But we were fortunate today because Brighton missed both of them."

On Brighton's disallowed goal: "The referee blew the whistle twice so that was why it was disallowed, Lee Mason came over and explained the situation regarding that - the only way we can avoid it is put someone on the ball and don't move back until the referee moves you back. I thought everybody had to get set.

"Everton now which is unfortunately a game thrown in we didn't want, we wanted to prepare for Newcastle the following Sunday. After that we have four weeks until we have a game again - that is out of order as far as I am concerned. They just didn't allow us to do anything. Everton have a massive advantage over us because they don't play that week."

  14. Potential double?published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

Leeds v Aston Villa (17:30 GMT)

Leeds won the reverse fixture between these two earlier in the season, with Patrick Bamford scoring all three goals in a 3-0 win, which Marcelo Bielsa has described as his side's best display of the season. Villa were flying at the time.

Leeds can do the league double over Villa for the first time since 1975-76 with a win today.

Villa have only won two of their past 17 away league games against Leeds, with those victories coming in January and December 2000.

  15. 'I don't understand'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    FT: West Brom 1-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to Sky Sports: "As far as I know Lewis Dunk asked take the free-kick quickly and the referee said yes. In between that there was another whistle. I don't know what that whistle was for. It would be nice for a bit more clarification. I don't know what the second whistle is for. I don't understand that.

"The confusion is on the pitch and it gets worse when someone outside this area is making the decisions. It is what it is. We've not helped ourselves with the two penalties so I cannot put it all down to that [disallowed goal].

"We need to improve and get better at that [taking penalties]. We're never going to get two better chances. We have to stay calm."

  16. 'Absolute chaos'published at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    FT: West Brom 1-0 Brighton

    Alex Scott
Former England and Arsenal defender on Final Score

It was absolute chaos - scenes we've never seen before. It's made the Premier League look embarrassing with that decision and that can't happen again.

We need a clear understanding of what's going on - four minutes go by and no one understands what's happened. We need clarity, this is the decision and why it's been made, everyone at home understands and we can move on. We need better clarity and communication.

  17. 'He wouldn't speak to me'published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    West Brom 1-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Lewis Dunk, speaking to MOTD: "I have got to come here and speak in front of the cameras, why doesn't he?

"I scored, a massive protest in front of him and he changed his mind. He wouldn't speak to me at half-time, there was too much mayhem to speak to him.

"All I know is I got told I can take the free-kick, took it and scored and it got disallowed. You have probably seen it more times than me."

  18. 'I'm not sure what happened'published at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    FT: West Brom 1-0 Brighton

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone, speaking to Premier League Productions about the Brighton goal that was controversially disallowed: "It happened that quick I'm not sure what has gone on to be honest. The referee checked it and the people checked it. it is what it is.

"It's nothing to do with us. It was the ref's decision. Brighton had two penalties as well and they've not gone in. It's a massive win for us."

  19. 'It's a horrendous decision'published at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    West Brom 1-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton's Lewis Dunk on the disallowed goal, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's embarrassing, it's a horrendous decision, I said to the ref can I take it, he blew his whistle and I took it. Just because there was so much pressure from the bench. Why doesn't he come and speak to the press like me? Never, they hide behind their bubble.

"I don't think he knew what he was doing. He gave the goal, why did he give it? I don't know why VAR was getting involved, he said 'goal'... you can look on the video if you want.

Had he lost control of the game? "Yeah he did. Fact."

  20. Struijk as DM?published at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

Leeds v Aston Villa (17:30 GMT)

Leeds are without their own central midfield star in Kalvin Phillips. Marcelo Bielsa has solved his absence recently by not playing with a deep-lying midfielder at all, with the likes of Mateusz Klich and others sharing the responsibility in front of the back four.

It is more likely that Pascal Struijk plays in the Phillips role here, though.

Plenty of eyes will be on Raphinha, who has been increasing his reputation weekly. His wing partner today is the recalled Helder Costa, who has impressed in cameo appearances while Jack Harrison (the man he replaces) has looked off it.
