    England 0-0 Austria

Former Leicester defender Aleksandar Dragovic the latest to have a hack at Jack Grealish.

The Austrians are certainly getting stuck in, even though many of the challenges have been less than legal.

No goals yet between France and Wales.

There's a strong case for the best thing about this game so far being the little car that delivered the match ball....

Heh, just seen Gareth Southgate's shirt.

A blue, striped number but the collar has a white trim and the button are those from a babygrow.

    Gok Wan would not approve.

Are England playing against the Deliveroo works team this evening?

Hah, good text. The Austria kit does look a bit like that. Put your names on contributions though, yeh?

    England 0-0 Austria

Trent Alexander-Arnold looks like a man who is intent on proving everyone who doubted him wrong.

The Liverpool man is seeing plenty of the ball down that right and there is real purpose in the balls that he is whipping on.

It's causing those Austria players one or two problems, you know.

  6. England make a lively startpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 2 June 2021

    England 0-0 Austria

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The Riverside Stadium

England have strung together some decent passages of play with Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold prominent.

Some nice fluent football. The crowd here inside The Riverside have appreciated it and now just want a goal to go with it.

    Should do better.

Bukayo Saka sees the ball all the way at the far post, from the angle he is around eight yards out, but the Arsenal man blasts a volley high and wide.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20 mins

    England 0-0 Austria

Now an Austria man does get booked by Belgian ref Lawrence Visser.

It's Xaver Schlager for a late challenge on Bukayo Saka.

I think Gareth Southgate will start the Euros with what he has trusted over the last couple of years but I could see Jack Grealish and Phil Foden ending up in the team and Mason Mount. Those three could easily end up in the team after the first or second game if it's not going right.

England keeping possession of the ball well here, stringing a number of passes together.

Haven't said that about England teams in the past.

Jack Grealish, the Premier League's most fouled player, gets the same dished out to him on the international stage.

The Aston Villa man is sold slightly short by Jesse Lingard's pass and though he nicks it away from Stefan Lainer, the Austria man comes hurtling in with a late challenge.

    No booking though.

    He looks fine, for now.

We'll keep an eye on him.

Now then, the first injury concern for Gareth Southgate as Bukayo Saka goes down and needs treatment from the physio.

Standby players James Ward-Prowse and Ollie Watkins are straight out to warm-up.

  15. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 11 mins

England have the ball in the net through Jude Bellingham's clever, flicked finish from close range...but it is disallowed for Tyrone Ming's shove on Martin Hinteregger.

Josh Earl: great opportunity for some of the fringe players to give Southgate a selection headache. Good test against a solid Austria side, who have a lot more quality in their team than just Alaba.

Bukayo Saka showing exactly why he has been named in the 26-man squad.

The Arsenal man collects the ball down the left then runs straight at the Austrian full-back but cannot quite find a team-mate with his pullback.

Austria are going to have a go but England could've been a couple of goals up already. You can see already that Austria are going to struggle to score goals - they're just getting in the final third and putting the ball in anywhere and trying to get a cross in in the hope that someone can get on the end of it.

  19. CLOSE!published at 8 mins

    England 0-0 Austria

Austria go through the heart of England's midfield and Christoph Baumgartner finds space on the edge of the box.

He looks to whip one across the area and over the head of Jordan Pickford but gets too much on it.
