    Former England keeper Rob Green on BBC Radio 5 Live: "I don't think Luke Shaw was expecting the Hungary player to put his head in there. I thought at first it was harsh but then when you see the replay he is very high and kicks him in the head."

    Ex-England defender Matt Upson: "I felt it was harsh. He won the ball clearly and it was the follow through that caught the player in the head."

    Into the one minute of additional time in the first half, Luke Shaw hangs a cross to the back post for Raheem Sterling to head at goal which is pushed out by Peter Gulacsi and the Manchester City forward side-foots wide the follow-up.

    Conor Washington has notched for Northern Ireland to give them the lead in Sofia against Bulgaria.

    The decision went to VAR but the 29-year-old Charlton forward has got his sixth international goal.

    Elsewhere in Europe, Dusan Vlahovic has put Serbia in front against Azerbaijan. As it stands that sees the hosts leapfrog back to the top of Group A, above Portugal.

    Meanwhile, Breel Embolo and Renato Steffen have given Switzerland a healthy two-goal lead against Lithuania.

    Raheem Sterling plays a precise pass to Jack Grealish on the edge of the box and the Man City midfielder drifts into the box.

    He beats his man with a lovely turn to open up the angle for a shot, but decides to come back onto his left foot and then loses possession.

    Poor decision-making that.

    England responded well to going behind and it's good to have the test sometimes - you can't expect every game to go to plan. Getting that goal before half-time helps a lot.
