Now England want a penalty as skipper Harry Kane goes tumbling inside the area under Attila Szalai's challenge but referee Alejandro Jose Hernandez Hernandez - so good they named him twice - waves play on.

Gareth Southgate went for a bold selection but it's not paying off at the moment.

England haven't had a handle on the game and have work to do.

Wow. That's a big decision from the referee!

There are massive question marks over the penalty and whether Luke Shaw had the right to go for it. He catches him on the follow through but wins the ball and clears it.

That's a brilliant, cool penalty though. He kept his head amid all that fuss about the award.

Portugal are running away with this contest at Estadio Algarve.

I think things are starting to settle down. There are a lot of stewards or police over there but the supporters in that stand have now focused their attention on the match and supporting their team.

We don't know the reason for what happened but once again there is a situation at Wembley involving fans that will need looking into.

I'm just being told there are police over there in riot gear on the concourse.

Hungary's few glimmers of hope in the final third have come via Dominik Szoboszlai.

The RB Leipzig man swings in an inviting cross with Rolland Sallai gets on the end of but volleys side at the near post.

He turns away and grimaces knowing he could have done better.

The early stages of the match have been over-shadowed by those violent scenes involving Hungary's fans.

It looked like police and stewards were driven back and it was all very ugly indeed. The Hungary fans had already jeered England's players taking the knee and the atmosphere is very volatile over in that corner of Wembley.

From the corner, Harry Kane has a free header from eight yards out but is penalised for a push.

A £100m touch from Jack Grealish, flicking the ball into the path of Luke Shaw down the left.

The Manchester United defender then plays a perfect cross low into the box for Harry Kane, but the skipper's stretching effort is brilliant blocked by Adam Lang.

They are not in World Cup qualification duty this evening but Callum Robinson has put Stephen Kenny's Republic of Ireland side a goal up early doors.

World Cup hosts Qatar are paying a visit to Dublin this evening.
