Kris Jefferson: I swear Newcastle are the worst passing team in the league, can barely string 3 passes together unless it’s going sideways or backwards

Bob Moss: Newcastle is very lucky there are 3 teams worse than them, otherwise they would be relegated this season

Russell Gowers: It’s not just the lack of quality in this game, it’s the lack of any kind of intensity or passion. Both teams look like they aren’t fussed. Haven’t seen a single yellow I don’t think. Isn’t this a relegation six pointer?!

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Joelinton directs a tame header into Sam Johnstone's hands before his cutback is cut out as Newcastle muster a couple of rare attacks.

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Five minutes left and Newcastle are heading for a point that will at least ensure they cannot drop into the bottom three today.

The football on show in this game hasn't exactly provided hope that they won't in the coming weeks, however.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 83 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

A double attacking change for West Brom with seven minutes left as Hal Robson-Kanu and Karlan Grant come on for Matt Phillips and Mbaye Diagne.

  5. Postpublished at 80 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Martin Dubravka pushes away a dangerous Matheus Pereira cross as West Brom start to up the pressure again for the final 10 minutes.

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

I usually try not to let more than three minutes pass by in entries but nothing has genuinely happened in the last five minutes.

I wish I could provide fans of either side some hope of a winning goal coming but it isn't looking likely I'm afraid.

No changes yet by Sam Allardyce. With just over 15 minutes left you think it is now or never. Feels like they could attack forever and not score at the moment.

I believe results since Big Sam came into West Brom have proved sacking Bilic was short sighted. The squad lacks the quality they need to stay up so any manager would struggle. Same at Sheffield United unfortunately.

Ben Rogers: Like the look of this set-up. Definitely time for Klopp to shake things up and great to have Jota back

A great chance to Fulham to get 3 precious points. By far a weaker Liverpool side.

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Into the final 20 minutes and things are getting nervy. West Brom just have to go for it as anything but a win would surely make things very, very difficult.

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

West Brom keep plugging away as Matheus Pereira fires in an inviting cross but Mbaye Diagne can't connect under pressure from Paul Dummett.

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Conor Townsend has provided some cracking balls into the box for West Brom but his team-mates haven't yet been able to apply the finish to match the quality of the deliveries.

  14. Postpublished at 61 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Dwight Gayle is quickly into the action as he leads a Newcastle break. He feeds Joe Willock, who tries his luck from a tight angle inside the area but Sam Johnstone pushes behind.

At the other end, Mbaye Diagne is in acres of space but can't direct his header on target.

    The chances are coming now.

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Mbaye Diagne tries to turn Emil Krafth inside the area. He goes down as the two tussle and the ball trickles behind for a goal kick.

West Brom have definitely had the better of this half, but they need to be capitalising on this good spell.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 57 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Steve Bruce decides it is time for a change as Jeff Hendrick is replaced by Dwight Gayle.

  17. CLOSE!published at 55 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Oh West Brom really should be ahead!

They keep up the pressure on the Newcastle goal after the corner and the ball is played across the area for an unmarked Matt Phillips but he smashes over from eight yards.

Sam Allardyce has complained about his side's inability to finish the chances they create, and that was certainly a chance.

Okay Yokuslu has a pop from outside the area with a driven shot but the box is too crowded and the ball deflects behind for a corner. The set play is played short and then whipped in by Matheus Pereira but Paul Dummett clears.

  19. Postpublished at 52 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Sam Johnstone punches awkwardly at Ryan Fraser's cross as Newcastle attack for the first time in this half. Fortunately for the hosts they are first to the loose ball inside the box and clear.

After Wilson was injured I knew Newcastle would be in a relegation battle. After Almiron and Saint-Maximin were injured I knew they'd probably be relegated. Absolutely no attacking threat without those three.
