  1. 'This isn't working for us'published at 20:14

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

    Quote Message

There's time Scotland have played with a two up front. Playing with the two midfielders off of the one isn't working for us. It's leaving us one short in the middle of the pitch, and not enough space going forward.

  2. Scotland 0-0 Austriapublished at 28 mins

Clever play from Stephen O'Donnell, with a cute back-heel through the legs of Grillitsch, sets up Stuart Armstrong for a cross but the Southampton man delays his centre and the visitors recover to repel the danger.

  3. Robertson presses for hostspublished at 25 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

Leading by example, Scotland captain Andy Robertson gallops forward as the hosts aim to create something in front of goal.

However, the Liverpool left-back's looping header lands on the roof of the net.

  4. Christie bookedpublished at 23 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

Scottish tempers are beginning to fray as Ryan Christie is the latest player to have his name endorsed in referee Carlos del Cerro Grande's black book.

Moments earlier, John McGinn was aggrieved that he did not earn a free-kick following an overzealous Austrian challenge.

  5. Austrians stretching Scotspublished at 21 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

Austria, probing for an opening, are moving the ball from left to right as they seek a way through Scotland's defence.

It remains goalless at Hampden but for how much longer?

  6. 'Scotland are lucky to still be in this'published at 20:04

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Austria have had three chances to put us to the sword, thankfully they haven't taken them! Unfortunately though, we are not looking like we are in this game at all.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 17 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

Austria come within a whisker of breaking the deadlock. Kalajdzic and Baumgartner combine with aplomb before the latter forces David Marshall into a low save.

More warning signs for Steve Clarke's side as the visitors grow in confidence and menace.

  8. No possession; formation not stickingpublished at 20:01

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

    Billy Dodds
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Scotland are starting to calm down a bit but there is still no possession for us. The 3-5-2 means we can’t get a grip of the ball because Austria’s fullbacks are getting all the action. The three up top aren’t wide enough to counter it for Scotland.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

The first yellow card of the night goes to Scotland defender Grant Hanley.

Hanley was spared a booking for an earlier challenge but there is no leniency from eagle-eyed whistler Carlos del Cerro Grande who brandishes the yellow for a foul on the stricken Baumgartner.

  10. Austrian pressing paying dividendspublished at 11 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

The visitors are snapping at Scottish heels whenever a blue jersey enjoys possession. The result? Scotland have yet to establish a foothold in this World Cup qualifier.

  11. Defensive disconnect in the early stagespublished at 19:55

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

The defence looks nervous here, Jack Hendry in particular doesn’t look like he has settled in. They don’t seem to know if they should be pressing their man or not, it is all a bit disconnected.

  12. Scots yet to find rhythmpublished at 8 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

Precious little in the way of attacking endeavour from Scotland in the opening 10 minutes; they appear content to stem the early Austrian tide before finding their sea legs.

  13. Early nerves for Hendrypublished at 19:52

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Jack Hendry lost his man from the corner, it was poor marking. Scotland are fortunate to still be level, they should have been punished there from the set-piece. Hendry has made a nervous start here, he's not showing the good form he's been in at club level.

  14. Visitors enjoy early possessionpublished at 4 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Austria

Austria are warming to the task, forcing Jack Hendry into conceding an early corner.

From the set piece, Ilsanker can only send his header over the bar. Goal kick for Scotland and the chance to regroup and try to take the sting out of an impressive start by the visitors.

  15. Scotland 0-0 Austriapublished at 3 mins

Steve Clarke's side are aiming to settle into the early stages of this World Cup qualifier. But they'll be aware of the danger of the Austrians on the counter attack, illustrated by that early chance for the towering Kalajdzic.

  19. National Anthem time...published at 19:40

    Scotland v Austria (19:45)

Flower of Scotland is given an airing before the Scotland team burst into applause and some last-minute warm-ups.

  20. 'Adams would have helped us in a tricky area'published at 19:38

    Scotland v Austria (19:45)

    Shelley Kerr
Former Scotland head coach on Sportsound

    Quote Message

It would have been good to play Che Adams, Ryan Christie isn't an out and out striker and he’s out of form. Sometimes when it's your first cap you get that rush, and he could have created something in this game for us since we’re likely to struggle in the final third.
