Austria goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann is excited by the prospect of facing Scotland tonight - and not just because he could earn his first cap.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Steve Clarke again," he told BBC Scotland. "I already spoke to Greg Taylor too, whom I obviously played with at Kilmarnock. It'll be nice to see them."

Bachmann remembers his season in Ayrshire very fondly, and why wouldn't he?

On loan from Watford in season 2018-19 - where he's now established himself as first-choice goalkeeper - he helped Kilmarnock secure third place and European qualification with a club-record points tally.

"He's very quiet, almost like a bit of an introvert but in a good way," Bachmann says of Scotland coach Clarke. "I really enjoyed working under him."

  4. 'Scotland can't afford to experiment'published at 18:10

You're the third seeds in the group and only one automatically qualifies. You can't experiment, you have to hit the ground running. I think it's going to be tough and Steve Clarke will have a headache in terms of team selection.

  5. Who will Scotland face?published at 18:06

    Scotland v Austria (19:45)

Scotland are in World Cup qualifying Group F. Apart from tonight's opponents, they'll also play:

    • Denmark
    • Israel
    • Moldova
    • Faroe Islands

Following tonight's match at home to Austria, the Scots face a trip to Israel on 28 March before it's back to Hampden to host Faroe Islands three days later.

Do you think Steve Clarke's troops can qualify from this group? Thumbs up for yes and thumbs down for, let's not go there...

  6. 'Chance to lay down marker'published at 18:04

    Scotland v Austria (19:45)

    Richard Gordon
    BBC Sport Scotland

We'll set the scene at Hampden [on Sportsound] and get the team news confirmed, then really ramp up the build-up to the big kick-off at 19:45.

It's a chance to lay down a marker against one of the real [Group F] opponents. It's going to be a tough group, let's hope we're all bouncing around like we were back in November...
