Scotland manager Steve Clarke expressed delight in the form of Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson.

"In recent matches Kieran and Andy have built a good partnership together," said Clarke. "Kieran can bomb on and Andy can drop in but Andy had a good assist tonight too. It's not easy to pick out the smallest guy [Ryan Fraser] on the pitch."

Asked about two-goal John McGinn, Scotland manager Steve Clarke says: "[I'm] disappointed with John tonight, I left him on to get his hat-trick and he didn't! No he's been excellent. That's what he does for us; that's why we use him as an attacking midfield player."

    FT: Scotland 4-0 Faroe Islands

Scotland manager Steve Clarke: "It was a good performance. We picked a team that would be positive and get at them. We knew they would give us a tough game so it was important to get the breakthrough.

"We had to be patience to get the second goal and we were. They had some good chances so we could have been better defensively but within the camp we're positive.

    FT: Scotland 4-0 Faroe Islands

"There was some pressure coming into these games and none of these games are easy. It was about being professional and getting the result.

Is someone like James Forrest a guarantee to come back in and go to the Euros? Ryan Fraser is showing some goal-scoring consistency now which means this squad is going to be very competitive to get into.

Every team needs their John McGinn. The player who will come in and get a goal when you need it. He's so down to earth and humble, he admits there's one eye on the summer for motivation which is refreshing too.

£25m [fee to buy Kieran Tierney from Celtic] was a steal for him for Arsenal. Even off the pitch, he is so impressive. I'm sitting here wondering if he's got any faults?

When you get crosses that good, you just have to turn them towards goal. John McGinn does that brilliantly. His drive and energy are good, and his timing to arrive from midfield is perfect, just perfect.

The disappointing aspect for me is the draw at home to Austria. When we play the next three qualifiers, those are the games that will tell us if we've got a chance or not.
