  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 19 mins

Queen of the South 0-0 Hibernian

What a stop from Rohan Ferguson!

Hibs unshackle Martin Boyle up the right, he burns into the box and lashes low for the far corner.

Ferguson, the Queens stopper, gets a leg on it, and that's enough to stop it going in.

Boyle is very much the fulcrum for the Hibs attack with his pace and dynamism.

Allan Johnston will be delighted. They've had a good shape so far. The only frustration for him will be, can they keep the ball better? But it's been a brilliant start from Queens.

  3. CLOSE!published at 16 mins

Queen of the South 0-0 Hibernian

Queens are it again. This time, it's Dobbie who cutely flicks on to the onrushing Connor Shields up the inside-left channel.

Shields drives deep into Hibs territory, but his shot from a tight angle loops into the arms of Matt Macey.

Hibs are living a wee bit dangerously here. Queens are in command.

That's a brilliant chance for Dobbie. It falls to guy Queens want it to. He goes for power, I think he should place it. He should be doing so much better from there.

  5. CLOSE!published at 14 mins

Queen of the South 0-0 Hibernian

What an opportunity! And it falls to precisely the man Queens would want.

A long throw from the right is flicked on and finds its way to Stephen Dobbie unguarded at the back stick.

We're waiting for the net to bulge, but the veteran marksman lashes over on the volley with his left foot.

    Mighty let-off for Hibs, that.

  6. Postpublished at 13 mins

Queen of the South 0-0 Hibernian

Decent ball in from Rhys McCabe, who swings it deep into the Hibs box, and after a spot of aerial ping-pong, Gregor Buchanan's header falls tamely for Macey.

  7. Postpublished at 11 mins

Queen of the South 0-0 Hibernian

Paul McGinn is penalised for using an arm to control a bouncing cross-field pass in his own half, and Queens have a chance to load up the Hibs box and fire one in.

  9. CLOSE!published at 19:51 British Summer Time 5 April 2021

Queen of the South 0-0 Hibernian

Fabulous block from Willie Gibson as Hibs threaten with their first chance of the game.

Christian Doidge lashes a cut-back to the edge of the box, and Joe Newell caresses his effort towards the bottom-right corner.

Gibson is perfectly placed to divert it wide for a corner, from which Hibs are penalised.

Good movement and interplay from the top-flight team.

The home side have made an energetic start to proceedings on a freezing cold night in Dumfries. They are eager to get the ball forward early and into the Hibs box. Matt Macey has come out to clasp a couple of deliveries.

Queens will try stay compact and invite Hibs onto them. It's important they are disciplined early on and limit Hibs to few chances

An early little raid on the Hibs box from Connor Shields, who shows his blistering pace by galloping on to a through ball. Matt Macey is out sharply to scoop it off the striker's toes.

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Scotland: "I've had a chat with Ofir Marciano, he's had a busy time recently with travelling and we've got a lot of important games coming up. But Matt Macey has played before, and at Celtic Park, so I've got no worries over him."

Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston tells BBC Scotland: "Both teams will be fired up to get a result. The Scottish Cup is always special.

"It’s a big occasion. It’ll need to be a very good performance tonight against a really good Hibs team to get through.

"You look at the draw for the next round, there’s incentive there. But we know its going to be really difficult."

  17. Hibs hit form on the roadpublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 5 April 2021

Queen of the South v Hibernian (19:45)

Hibs have been very impressive away from Easter Road this season, winning at each top-flight venue aside from Celtic Park, Ibrox and Pittodrie.

Their form lately has been a bit patchy, with a draw against Livingston last time out following a win at Ross County, and back-to-back defeats by St Johnstone and Motherwell.

Four points from four games isn't really good enough from a Hibs point of view, but they've been consistent enough to amass a commanding seven-point lead over Aberdeen in third place.

  18. A capital couple?published at 19:37 British Summer Time 5 April 2021

Queen of the South v Hibernian (19:45)

If we ignore the well-worn trope that since this is a cup game, form goes out the window, anything can happen, it's a one-off affair, blah blah blah, there are reasons for home fans to be optimistic.

Queens have won five of their past seven Championship outings, most recently putting Hearts to the sword with help from a glorious Connor Shields curler. The young striker, who joined from Aldershot last year, bagged a brace in Gorgie.

Can his team do the Edinburgh double tonight?

  20. King of Queenspublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 5 April 2021

Queen of the South v Hibernian (19:45)

Shameless filching of BBC Scotland commentator Liam McLeod's brilliant Stephen Dobbie line, here.

Dobbie turned 38 in December, but is showing no signs of slowing down at the club he loves. The lethal striker is approaching 500 career games, and has scored over 200 goals.

His Queen of the South record reads: played 264, scored 158. That's serious consistency.

It was Hibs that gave Dobbie his first regular exposure to senior football, as part of the club's 'golden generation' which included Derek Riordan, Garry O'Connor, Scott Brown, Steven Whittaker and Kevin Thomson.

Here he is with O'Connor and Whittaker, shortly before Hibs lost the 2004 League Cup final to Livingston. Interesting choice of barnet; even more interesting choice of specs...
