  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:51 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

With just under 15 minutes to go, Chelsea send on Olivier Giroud for Ziyech. The French striker has scored late winners before for the Blues, can he do it again?

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Neal Maupay is on, with Alexis Mac Allister departing. Bit of attacking intent?

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:47 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

White leaves a boot in on Mount and gets a booking for it. Just caught him slightly after the ball had gone.

That's the cue for another sub to enter.

  4. Postpublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Bissouma goes for goal again but this time slices his effort from range well wide. Why not have a go, though? It's not like Brighton are cutting the home side apart.

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

    Twenty minutes to go.

Ziyech marks it by tamely sending a cross straight into Sanchez's grasp.

  6. Postpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Brighton win a corner as Bissouma's free-kick from range deflects wide off a Chelsea player.

It comes to nothing, though, with Hudson-Odoi nodding the ball away at the near post.

    Urgh.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Alonso and Havertz depart and on come Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner.

Both of the subs are direct runners with the ball. The latter will go up top and the former to wing-back I expect.

  8. Postpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Brighton aren't really threatening. They're just not passing the ball well enough out from the back to allow it to stick.

They're not exactly being put under much pressure either, though.

Makes for a pretty drab affair.

    Could the following changes help?

  9. Postpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner getting instructions on the touchline. Chelsea needed to do something as this is drifting.

  10. Postpublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

I'm starting to think we've had all our excitement for the night before a ball was kicked.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:34 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

On comes Adam Lallana, replacing Leandro Trossard in midfield.

  12. Postpublished at 21:34 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

This time White does the defensive job for Brighton, showing good strength to hold off Pulisic as he sought to get on to a Mount pass into the box.

That will prompt a change for the visitors.

  13. Postpublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Havertz has produced some neat touches, but he's not really influencing the game. He tries to get in down the right, but Lewis Dunk gets his body between man and ball to see it out for a goal-kick. Good defending.

  14. Postpublished at 21:27 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

There is precious little urgency at the moment. Chelsea have picked up where they left off but aren't moving the ball quickly enough to hurt Brighton, who are happy to sit in their own half and frustrate.

  15. Postpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Brighton have lost just one of their last 13 Premier League games when goalless at half time (W2 D10), a 0-1 defeat to Arsenal in December.

Chelsea have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games when goalless at half time (D6 L5), going on to draw each of the last three such games 0-0.

  16. 'We don't want it to happen'published at 21:21 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

Just to return to Super League matters for a moment, the Liverpool players have released a collective statement on the subject that is pretty emphatic in its stance...

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:19 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

Right, we've had 15 minutes to dust ourselves off, maybe even take a shower to wash that first-half off us. We go again.

I'd love to know what Petr Cech was saying to Chelsea fans earlier tonight.....

I'd love it to be a 'Lord of the Rings' style "And you have my protective goalkeeping hat thing".

  19. Postpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

This is currently a point that serves Brighton much better than Chelsea. The Seagulls are edging towards Premier League safety. The Blues are back in the top four as it stands, but only on goal difference from West Ham.

Thomas Tuchel's side would much rather be going to the London Stadium this weekend with some serious pressure on the Hammers.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 20 April 2021

    Chelsea 0-0 Brighton

We could really have done with a superb game of football here to get us all focusing back on stuff happening on the pitch, not off it.

    Oh well.
