Aston Villa 1-2 Man City
They might be down to 10 but City are still a delight to watch the way they pass it around. That was another lovely team move to create space for Gundogan.

Chance for City.
Ilkay Gundogan gets behind the Villa defence and tries to pick out a team-mate in the six-yard box but Emiliano Martinez sticks out a leg to deflect it away.

Calm down,Pep. We keep asking for consistent decisions and for once we got it. If Cooper on Jesus was a red last week then Stones on Ramsey has to be. Carbon copy (except Cooper got the ball first)

Red every time. For those whinging, it seemed the replay that changed the ref's mind was the normal speed one. It was late, high, and caught the man on the underside of the knee. Pep would be apoplectic if someone did that to his player.

There's been a couple of changes.
Aymeric Laporte is on for City while Villa have introduced Keinan Davis for Jacob Ramsey.

More of the same please lads.
We're back under way.

Southampton
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Can't say we had less energy than on Sunday, we still had a good game but better today with the ball, we had a clearer plan and we had more movement and more chances. First half we had chances for three goals and scored one - not enough to score one goal because we always concede one, clean sheets are missing. The way we defended was not good enough.
"We have eight substitutes and normally should be able to replace him [Danny Ings] but today we couldn't really push our game with the subs and the opponents were stronger and we were under pressure and making that stupid foul leading to the penalty then it's too easy for them.
"If it's a foul it was a penalty. But I have seen the same thing in first half in the middle of the pitch and we didn't get a foul, I don't want to discuss because we have to accept it. It's hard to take but we have to."

Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham's interim boss Ryan Mason talking to BBC Sport:
"This opportunity is my main focus. All my focus was on getting a win and thankfully we have done that.
""It took us a bit of time but we managed to get control of the game. I was very proud of the boys. I thought we deserved the win.
For us, it is taking it game by game. Our full energy is on Sunday."

Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham interim manager Ryan Mason, speaking to Sky Sports: "Fantastic - so proud of the boys they had so much energy and bravery especially after the first 20-30 minutes - Southampton came out of the blocks they were good. We showed belief and stuck to the plan so full credit because the energy and commitment was great, I thought there was only one team going to win it. Disallowed goal was disappointing but that didn't effect the boys.
"I thought we were excellent, we found it difficult, Southampton built up momentum and Hugo [Lloris] pulled out some excellent saves early on. We had full control second half and we were creating chances.
"At half time it was about giving the players confidence, we planned and prepared for everything - we've only had a short amount of time but for me the biggest thing for me was commitment, energy and bravery to do good things and express ourselves and take risks at times. The boys gave everything and fully deserved it.
"Tonight was important for many things, the change in manager, a lot has gone on at the club in the last 48 hours and it was important to get back to winning ways. Thankfully we won but the performance and energy was outstanding."
Know your starting XI for Sunday? "No - it's a bit of a cliche but my mind has been focussed on this game and today there was a lot going on. It's been a busy day at the club, it's also four years to the day since Ugo Ehiogu passed so I want to dedicate that to him and his family - everyone at the club still remembers and thinks of him."

What an introduction to management for Ryan Mason who is off to a flyer thanks to a 90th minute winner. Here's some reaction from the Spurs caretaker boss.

Pep Guardiola was trying to explain to the officials the difference - that he didn't see it as a violent tackle from John Stones, it's just taken a bit away from a wonderful recovery for Man City.
That's what we want to watch in the Premier League - really good first half, it had a bit of extra spice, plenty of talking points with the VAR and City's recovery.

This has been a fantastic advert for the Premier League.

Peter Bankes is approached by Ilkay Gundogan after blowing for half-time. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola storms towards the dressing room.
City will have to play the whole of the second half with 10 men. Can they do to Villa what Leeds did to them recently and secure three points despite a red card?

John Stones has been sent off in the Premier League for the very first time.
Aston Villa 1-2 Man City
What a match. Villa take the lead after 20 seconds, City equalise and then get their noses in front before the Premier League leaders are reduced to 10 men after a straight red card is shown to John Stones.

Pete Bronson: Stones red card was MORE of a red card than the one Leeds got against City last time out. What is Guardiola moaning about?
Rhys: never a red. Ref got it right until it was slowed down to look worse than it was. Bit of villa play acting helped I guess.

VAR see the contact on the slow motion - John Stones comes across and hesitates and then goes to play the ball. Yes, he catches him it's a yellow it's not one where he's below the knee and the leg's planted where you can seriously injure someone, it's really high. The referees need to understand the difference in contact, at this point the referees don't understand that.

Pep Guardiola is FURIOUS.
Aston Villa 1-2 Man City
This is incredible. Moments after they take the lead for the first time, VAR is looking at a high challenge by John Stones on Jacob Ramsey.
Referee Peter Bankes is urged to look at it on the pitchside monitor and decides that the City defender should be sent off for serious foul play.
A straight red in front of Gareth Southgate!

Great pressure from Man City to keep it alive - it was coming from the wide areas Aston Villa have been too narrow at times. The quality of the delivery that comes in and that little dink curler right in front of the keeper, it's just glanced from Rodri and just flicks across his head into the far post. Well worked again from Man City.
