    Stoke 0-0 Coventry

Coventry playmaker Gustavo Hamer hits a belter of a free-kick which gets Angus Gunn travelling to stop.

    The corner is dealt with.

Stoke win a set-piece at the other end and it takes some brave defending from the visitors - with the end result an injury and stoppage, to Liam Kelly.

  2. Postpublished at 19:26 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Wycombe 0-0 Bristol City

Midway through the first half, and Daniel Bentley's save from Wycombe striker Admiral Muskwe is the only effort on target of the game.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Rotherham 1-2 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough's Jonny Howson smacks the bar again, and this time it's a header.

Neeskens Kebano has the Rotherham defence on toast as he shimmies and shuffles a yard before curling in and outswinger which Howson guides powerfully again at the frame of the goal.

    Close to a third.

    Millwall 1-3 Bournemouth

Half an hour to go and Bournemouth are holding off the Millwall revival.

The Lions scored with their first (and so far only) effort on target this evening.

And the chance came from a defensive error by the Cherries.

  5. Postpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Rotherham 1-2 Middlesbrough

The Middlesbrough lead has roused Rotherham from their slumber but there's still a threat on the break.

They've at least asked some questions of Middlesbrough in the past five minutes, and had the ball broken more kindly there might have been a chance in the box for Michael Ihiekwe, but it was swept away.

Boro keep hitting on the counter though, and Michael Smith has to clear for a corner.

    Stoke 0-0 Coventry

James Chester has gone off injured for the home side and Conner Taylor is on for a debut.

Coventry starting to impose themselves on the game, but Angus Gunn has been cool and calm at the back.

GOAL: Rotherham 1-2 Middlesbroughpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Chuba Akpom (55 mins)

Terrible moment for Rotherham and it's one they'll watch through fingers when they review it later this week.

Middlesbrough pump a free-kick to the back-post which Viktor Johansson comes out a long way for and can only palm to Paddy McNair.

He steadies himself before drilling a low, hard cross which Chuba Akpom forces in with plenty of Rotherham shirts around him.

Poor from the Millers and the pressure tells.

    Stoke 0-0 Coventry

Coventry have come closest to a goal with a raid and Stoke goalkeeper Angus Gunn made a number of blocks and saves, some more orthodox than others, to deny the Sky Blues.

Earlier Sam McCallum put in a great ball from the left but the connection wasn't clean and the ball bounced away to safety.

    Rotherham 1-1 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough have a man advantage after the first-half dismissal of Matt Crooks for Rotherham, and continue to put the home side under the pump.

Blanket possession so far, but for some good work from Freddie Ladapo holding the ball up.

  12. goal

GOAL: Millwall 1-3 Bournemouthpublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Jed Wallace (49 mins)

    Oh, what's this?

Maybe the Lions DO have a comeback in them

The hosts grab a goal back through top scorer Jed Wallace, who nets his 10th goal of the season.

The forward takes advantage of a mis-hit clearance by Steve Cook and finds the bottom right-hand corner with his left foot from just outside the six-yard box.

Millwall will up the pressure on Bournemouth now.

  13. Postpublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Stoke 0-0 Coventry

Josh Tymon does well down the Stoke left, but his cross just evades the lurking Jacob Brown in the Coventry box.

They've had a corner too, which came to zilch.

Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson has brought in Stephen Sessegnon, Adam Nagy and Nahki Wells into the Robins side.

  17. Second halfpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Millwall 0-3 Bournemouth

Back under way at The Den.

A Millwall comeback doesn't look like it's on the Cards. The hosts failed to test visiting keeper Asmir Begovic in the first half.

The Lions have brought Connor Mahoney on for Alex Pearce.

  18. Postpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Stoke 0-0 Coventry

Nice open pitch at the Bet365 Stadium and an open start to match, albeit without any real goalmouth action.

Both teams happy to move the ball between the lines. A promising start.

Two more games are getting started in the Championship.

It's a crucial evening for bottom club Wycombe Wanderers, who realistically need to beat Bristol City to keep their hopes of staying up alive.

Stoke City host Coventry City, and the visitors could do with a few more points to secure their place in the second tier for next season.

  20. A mid-spring night in Stokepublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 21 April 2021

    Stoke v Coventry (19:00 BST)

Cold night in Stoke bannerImage source, Getty Images

One of the placards at the protest against the European Super League heart-warmingly pleaded that fans still wanted "their cold nights in Stoke". It's a sentiment we all enjoyed, I think.

Coventry, tonight, will get a mildish night in the Potteries as they seek the couple of points needed to ensure a midtable finish on their return to the Championship this season.

Stoke are already well-assured of their Championship status, although with Covid restrictions in place, journalists might have to come up with another cliche for uninterested players from being "already on the beach", unless it's Cromer or Weston-Super-Mare rather than Puerto Banus.

In essence, this game has all the feel of an end-of-season dead rubber, albeit with mild, mild peril for Coventry. That said, it could end up being the game of the night, an exhibition in all that is good about the English football pyramid, and I hope so.
