Aaron Lewis goes for the spectacular as the ball drops to him on the volley outside the area, but his effort loops over the bar.

Kyle Letheren's goal was never under threat, but there have been many worse volleys than that.

    Josh Sheehan is fortunate there.

After a heavy touch, he thunders into a challenge on Ryan Cooney.

He gets some of the ball but did well not to be sanctioned given the force of the tackle.

    A lovely moment.

Both sets of fans just rose in the 34th minute to honour former Morecambe number 34 Christian Mbulu.

Mbulu died on 26 May 2020, aged 23 and the Morecambe bench just unveiled a picture of him with a shirt on their bench.

    A fitting tribute.

Aaron Lewis takes a long throw for Newport this time, and his effort is not bad either.

It is cleared at the near post.

    Morecambe 0-0 Newport

Nice football from Newport near halfway before Joss Labadie tumbles under Liam Gibson's challenge.

There was not a great deal in that.

Cheers all round as the assistant referee flags so furiously for a free-kick that his flag breaks.

Then there is applause all round as both sets of fans pay tribute to Christian Mbulu, the Morecambe player who sadly died last year.

    He worse shirt number 34.

  7. Truly, Madley, a penalty?published at 34 mins

Newport fans felt hard done by at Wembley two seasons ago when they felt the major decisions went against them against Tranmere.

In what appears to be a very cagey contest, will Newport's sense of injustice come to the fore again?

There is no question the Exiles should have had a penalty as Kyle Letheren clobbered Scot Bennett. It was like watching Roman Reigns deliver a superman punch. He flew through the air but referee Bobby Madley was unmoved.

    Will Newport rue that moment?

Josh Sheehan then tries his luck from the corner which follows, but his effort curls harmlessly wide of the Morecambe goal.

These sorts of games it's usually a moment of magic or absolute brilliance from a player or unfortunately a mistake that decides it.

    Morecambe 0-0 Newport

A nice combination between Lewis Collins and Padraig Amond sees the latter take aim from the edge of the box, but his shot deflects wide.

  11. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Morecambe 0-0 Newport

A decent ball towards big Cole Stockton but Tom King comes off his line to make a crucial intervention.

We are back under way after drinks all round.

Have seen a replay of that Kyle Letheren challenge on Scott Bennett.

In his attempt to punch the ball, the Morecambe keeper connected with the Newport defender's face.

    The Shrimps got lucky there.

Want to know how warm it is at Wembley?

We have a break in play so both sets of players can have a drink, which was agreed between the clubs before kick-off.

    Morecambe 0-0 Newport

Right on cue, Mickey Demetriou sends a long throw into the box.

This time it leads to a Joss Labadie shot which is blocked, before Josh Sheehan's follow-up is comfortably saved.

Morecambe are very narrow and that's stopping Sheehan and Dolan getting on the ball for Newport.

  17. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Morecambe 0-0 Newport

Mickey Demetriou has been prominent in the opening quarter, with his long throws looking like they could be a big factor in this game.

  18. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Morecambe 0-0 Newport

Mickey Demetrious tricks Morecambe by turning down a chance to hurl a long throw into the box, picking out Liam Shephard on the edge of the box.

The defender shoots goalwards but his effort hits a team-mate, who is offside.

  19. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Morecambe 0-0 Newport

This has been a bright, open game so far, with both sides are throwing players forward.

    Long may it continue.
