An opportunity for Morecambe on the counter with that man Carlos Mendes Gomes prominent again.

He feeds Liam McAlinden but a bad touch allows Newport to clear.

Letheren has got to take charge there but you can see Newport's ploy to pick up the ball and play long balls over the top for Lewis Collins.

You have to say Morecambe have started this game better though.

Newport stand firm as a couple of balls rain into their box.

Carlos Mendes Gomes then crosses dangerously but the ball misses everyone.

Oh so close - and should it be a penalty?

Kyle Letheren comes for another Mickey Demetriou long throw but this time he does not get there.

Scot Bennett wins the header and the ball rolls just wide of the vacant net.

Letheren is fortunate referee Bobby Madley does not award a spot-kick as he cleans Bennett out.

I can already see that Morecambe get back in that defensive shape quickly so Newport need to get the ball out quickly.

Sam Lavelle meets a free-kick with a header in the Newport box, but it is a looping effort and it is Tom King's turn to make a solid claim.

It is still early days here, but Morecambe's Derek Adams may be the slightly happier manager.

His team look to have settled better than Newport.

Mickey Demetriou hurls a dangerous long throw into the Morecambe box, but keeper Kyle Letheren makes a good claim.

    His defenders will love that.

We had two early goals in the past two English Football League play-off finals this weekend.

You'd struggle to beat Ollie Turton's calamitous 47-second own goal in Blackpool's victory over Lincoln in yesterday's League One final, but could we be in for a third-straight early goal?

It's end-to-end stuff and the warm weather is doing nothing to impact the tempo of the first few minutes of this one.

Looking at Morecambe it's interesting to see whether Derek Adams goes with two holding midfielders.

He's thinking more defensively and keeping it tight the first 20 minutes or so.

It'll be important for Newport to get on the front-foot.

Both national anthems were booed by the other set of fans, but let's not dwell on the inevitable.

Hearing over 4000 football fans singing in unison has given me goosebumps.

Something I took for granted for 30 years is something I've missed more than I could have ever realised.

Fans make football. The beautiful game is back to being beautiful.
