  1. Sterling introduced for Citypublished at 58 mins

    Man City 4-0 Arsenal

When you're 4-0 down away from home you probably don't want to see someone coming on who has five goals in his last six games against you.

Raheem Sterling trots on for Manchester City to replace Bernardo Silva.

Almost five. Bernardo Silva's cross deflects just wide. The host have a corner.

Absolutely phenomenal finish from Rodri. Man City are toying with Arsenal at will. They're passing from left to right front to back, Arsenal can't get anywhere near it.

Rodri hits this hard and low, a side foot pass, beautifully caressed into the bottom corner - Leno had no chance.

    Man City 4-0 Arsenal

That was definitely one of those goals where you sort of think, 'it's a side-foot shot from 25 yards, surely the keeper should get it?'

Not when it's struck with such precision.

    Rodri

There's a wall of Arsenal players patrolling the edge of their penalty area. No bother.

Rodri sweeps a curling right-foot shot down the side of them into the bottom right corner.

Another Jack Grealish weave, another Manchester City chance. Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno does well to bat Bernardo Silva's close-range effort away.

    Man City 3-0 Arsenal

Arsenal look to have adopted a 3-5-1 formation. They are sat in deep, presumably hoping that Manchester City don't put their foot on the gas here.

As an Arsenal fan, the embarrassing thing is this is no longer embarrassing but fully expected. I don’t want Arsenal to be a hiring and firing club but Arteta is way out of his depth and the players clearly don’t want to play for him.

Half-time change for the Gunners. Mohamed Elneny on for Bukayo Saka. Well they had to do something.

Manchester City also make a change, Kyle Walker is replaced by Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Charlie: It’s all well and good having a policy of buying young players with potential, but they need guidance from the senior pros in the team. If your captain is getting stupidly sent off while your team is struggling, what chance have they got?

Sho: All banter aside never in my life did I think I'd see Arsenal this bad. The club has been neglected from top to bottom and now you have a manager who's completely out of his depth, players that are nowhere near good enough, and owners/board that don't care.

Arteta has to go in there now and have a word with all of the leaders, the senior pros of the group and say: 'Look, this is about damage control now.'

Arsenal started brilliantly, they had all their players on the front foot, setting traps, closing City down, then they were blown away completely.

Martin: Man City are missing Kane struggling badly here...

Jona: On the bright side, Arsenal have not hit bottom yet. Couple more goals from MCity should do it.

Noel: That Xhaka tackle was a perfect metaphor for Arteta and Arsenal...Out of control!

To coin a phrase from REM, lots of shiny, happy people at the Etihad at the break.

Unless you are an Arsenal fan of course.

The 10-man Gunners are trying to avoid a third consecutive defeat at the start of a season for only the fifth time ever, 1894-95 (second tier), 1921-22, 1923-24 and 1954-55 (all top-flight).

That third goal started with Ederson, he put a simple pass through the middle of the pitch, past all of Arsenal's midfield to Rodri, who manages to turn and run about 30 yards - nobody anywhere near him.

Then Jack Grealish shows nothing but confidence, pure confidence seeping out of him. Puts a lovely pass on a plate for Jesus - boom. The net's rippling.

    Andy Reid

I would not be making kneejerk reactions based of what happens at the Etihad, because you can go there on any kind of day and lose.

It is not just about today, it is about the direction they are going, can you see what the plan is. Can you see what they are trying to get at.

When I watch Arsenal I struggle to see what they are really trying to do. I struggle to see what the philosophy is out of possession. Sometimes they will press and go after teams and sometimes they will stand off.

Just two touched in the penalty area for Gabriel Jesus but an assist and a goal is not a bad first-half contribution.

If you go in with both feet off the floor, you're going to get sent off.

Time and time again, he lets his team down when he's supposed to be leader. It's a joke. He's an absolute embarrassment to Arsenal right now.

Daniel Cheng: When is Granit Xhaka ever going to learn? You cannot go two footed like that. As if we were not struggling enough as it is. So much for that new contract...

Abu: And to think, Arsenal had the perfect chance to move on from Xhaka this Summer....but gave him a contract extension.
