GOAL - Man City 3-0 Arsenalpublished at 43 mins

    Gabriel Jesus

So easy. Jack Grealish wanders into the Arsenal box and puts one on a plate for the Brazilian.

Did that even count as a body swerve? Grealish barely had to do anything to get past Calum Chambers.

There's a kid in the crowd yawning already, all so predictable.

  2. 'Xhaka has had a massive rush of adrenaline'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 28 August 2021

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

    Jermaine Beckford
Ex-Everton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

This sums Granit Xhaka up. When Arsenal have got a head-loss, Xhaka has a head-loss. Xhaka had a massive, massive rush of adrenaline, both feet off the floor, unnecessarily, he didn't need to two-foot Joao Cancelo, he's done it out of frustration.

When Xhaka, who is supposed to be an experienced pro, does that, I feel sorry for the likes of Bukayo Saka.

    They're already up against it.

Attempt missed. Ferran Torres has a dig from distance for the hosts.

No further damage done to Arsenal. Yet.

Mikel Arteta and a member of his coaching team have both had a word with fourth official Andrew Madley about that red card.

I am not sure what they can complain at really. In the modern game that is deemed as reckless.

I would be more concerned about why Granit Xhaka did that if I was in their position.

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

Granit Xhaka's defence there was that he only took the ball. And replays show he doesn't catch the Manchester City man. But crikey you've not been allowed to tackle like that for a fair while.

    What was he thinking?

  6. RED CARD - Granit Xhakapublished at 35 mins

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

Granit Xhaka dives in to a two-footed challenge on Joao Cancelo. Straight red.

Is that a megs? Arsenal's Cedric Soares gets sent for pies by his compatriot Joao Cancelo but the Manchester City defender's final ball is poor.

  8. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

Arsenal manger Mikel Arteta is jumping around in his technical area. Was that a foul? Is it a penalty?

Kieran Tierney goes down in the Manchester City penalty area after nipping away from Kyle Walker but that's never a foul.

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

Emile Smith Rowe is hacked and pushed at as he tries to negotiate a Bernardo Silva/Ilkay Gundogan sandwich.

Nowt doing just a throw for the Arsenal man.

Another Arsenal defender in the book.

Sead Kolasinac picks up a yellow as he hands off Gabriel Jesus on the right wing.

    Looked a soft one.

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

Pretty much the only time Manchester City look in any sort of bother is when they pass the ball back to Ederson.

The Brazilian keeper shanks another attempt to clear, but City are saved by the offside flag as the ball is returned forward.

  12. 'Ederson, what on earth?'published at 12:57 British Summer Time 28 August 2021

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

    Jermaine Beckford
Ex-Everton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Oh my goodness! What on earth?

Ederson was taking his time, bags and bags of confidence on the ball, decides to let Emile Smith Rowe close him down inside his own six yard box, he tries to play the ball right across the six yard box, it's hit Smith Rowe's ankle and almost gone in the goal.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 24 mins

Cedric Soares catches referee Martin Atkinson's attention after tugging back Jack Grealish.

Yellow all day for the Arsenal defender.

Paul Harris: Is the “process” to run around like headless chickens desperately trying not to make meaningful contact with the ball?

Ederson gets away with that one.

The Manchester City keeper faffs about near his goal and gets lucky with an attempted clearance that cannons off Emile Smith Rowe, straight across his goal, rather than in it.

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

Arsenal fell 2-0 behind within 12 minutes against Manchester City, which is the earliest they've conceded twice from the start of a Premier League match since December 2017 v Manchester United (11 minutes).

Manchester City have opened the scoring in each of their last 10 Premier League meetings with Arsenal, with eight of those opening goals coming in the first 20 minutes of the start of those matches.

    Anyone notice a recurring theme?

    Man City 2-0 Arsenal

    Will Perry
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

It's a quick free kick, well worked from Bernado Silva.

It's shambolic Arsenal defending - not the first time we've said that this season. The ball runs all the way through for Torres who puts it past Leno.

Arsenal, after 10 minutes, look like they're falling apart.
