OK then, time for us to wrap things up for the day as the Premier League takes a breather for the international break.

There's still a bit more football action tonight with PSG taking on Reims. Lionel Messi is on the bench for that one and could come on for his debut.

Fancy it? My colleague Emlyn Begley has just made a desperate plea for a plug so go give him some company here.

  2. 'We put the ball out'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Wolves

Wolves boss Bruno Lage, speaking to BBC Sport: "I see the mark on Ruben’s leg and I talked to the fourth official – my question is, in the first half, in the first 30 minutes, Bruno (Fernandes) was down in our box, we have a good transition in this situation and Pogba asks Nelson (Semedo) to put the ball out, and we put the ball out.

“Same situation, Marcal asks their players to put the ball out and they shoot at the goal.”

Dharma: Varane looked every bit as good as advertised. Sancho…not so much today. Hope he improves. Good win, next one Ronaldo!

Jack: Good signs for Man Utd - winning games when not at their best. Often the mark of title-contenders.

Scott: Daylight robbery. I’m a United fan too!

  4. Messi on the bench for PSGpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

PSG are in action tonight but Lionel Messi is on the bench. I guess an attack of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria will have to do...

You can follow that game live and see if Messi gets on here.

How can that United goal not have been an OG by José Sá? The cross wasn't going anywhere near the goal until he touched it. In fact, with the spin that was on the ball, I reckon it would have struggled to hit the corner flag!

  6. Ronaldo will 'hopefully' play against Newcastlepublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

More from Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, on new signing Raphael Varane: "He was class. Composed, experienced, good on the ball, in the air. He's got everything as a centre-back so I'm delighted with his performance."

On Cristiano Ronaldo making his debut against Newcastle after the international break: "I hope he will. We're working to get that done. He's a special boy, or man now, he was a boy when I played with him. Of course we want to get that over the line.

"Of course the players are excited, some have played with him in their national team. You see the fans - they're excited. That's what he does, he's a special player."

On today's win: "It's been a good week, seven points on the board. We said last week after the draw, if we win the next one, it might not be a bad draw."

  7. 'The game was about passion'published at 19:06 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to BBC MOTD2, on David de Gea's double save:

"The first one, he was in the right position, but the second one's special, how he reacts and gets a strong hand to it. I have to say David has come back with a determination in his work and I'm delighted for him."

On the possible foul on Ruben Neves leading up to the goal: "Last week I was complaining because we didn't get a foul - it's the way of the game now. They want it flowing, they want more lenient refereeing.

"I don't think it's a foul, I think two of them go for the ball and it's a good tackle by Paul [Pogba].

"It has to be consistent, but it will take a few weeks to find that correct line. We were told before the game today that the referee would let the game flow. With the crowd, the passion, the game was all about passion in the crowd and on the pitch."

On Mason Greenwood's goal: "It's special. To get the shot on target from that angle is good, of course the keeper maybe could have saved it but he hit it so quickly. The beauty of him is that he can go outside right foot and inside left foot, so it's hard for a defender."

  9. 'We must continue to play way we're playing'published at 18:54 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Wolves

Wolves manager Bruno Lage to Sky Sports:

"One more time a lot of chances, I think we have the best ones and then we suffer one goal and we lose, so it’s very hard. After these three games, the chances we created, we didn’t score one goal and we don’t have any points after these three good performances.

"I am disappointed with the result but confident in the way we are playing and for sure we will win. Sometimes you create a lot of chances and don’t score, other days you create half a chance and score and win the game.

"But the main point is to continue to work the way we are working, to continue to play the way we are playing. The most important here is what we did one more time 90 minutes against a strong opponent."

On the challenge by Paul Pogba on Ruben Neves in the build-up to Mason Greenwood's winner: "Same situation, 30 minutes in the first half, we have a good transition for us, same place and Semedo put the ball out because Pogba told him to. The image is very clear.

"Then 80 minutes, Marcal said to the guy who scored the goal to put the ball out and they shoot at goal. Ruben was down and they scored the goal."

  10. 'Records are okay but we want titles'published at 18:52 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea speaking to Sky Sports: "It's good to win, but now it's time to play for titles. Records are okay, but you have to go for titles. We didn't play so well, but it's a massive win for us."

Paul Pogba: "It was a hard game, it's very difficult to play here. We did very well, we had chances, one offside. David was incredible as always. We got the win, we did it."

  11. 'It's like a dream to have Ronaldo back'published at 18:50 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

More from David De Gea, on his double-save to deny Romain Saiss: "It was so quick, the first one hit my body and then I made the double-save. It was good because the team, after the save, scored the goal, we won a massive three points."

Paul Pogba on his challenge on Ruben Neves leading up to the goal: "It was a 50/50, every weekend these things happen. I won the ball and we scored - I need to see it again."

De Gea on the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo with a smile on his face: "Who?"

He added: "It's like a dream to have him back, it will be great - it's already great, you can feel it in the atmosphere. Hopefully he can bring something special to make the team even better."

  12. 'We win the ball and we scored'published at 18:43 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, speaking to Sky Sports about the challenge with Ruben Neves before the goal: “I didn’t touch him. This is the Premier League, it was a 50-50, every weekend that is happening.

"We win the ball and we scored."

  13. 'It's a clear foul' - Nevespublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 29 August 2021

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Wolves

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves to Sky Sports:

On the challenge by Paul Pogba in the build-up to United's winner: "Everyone saw it, everyone saw my leg, we always do meetings and everything with referees about VAR, I don’t know why.

"They said before the season started they will look for contact – if the contact is strong enough, they will give the foul. I showed them my leg.

"I think maybe because last game it was a foul before the Southampton goal, maybe now they did the opposite. I showed my leg to the ref, I showed to the assistant ref, I cannot say anything more.

"After the game he said ‘you both go to the ball’ and I said ‘yes, we both go to win the ball but I was the one who touched the ball’. It’s a foul, a clear foul."

On a third straight 1-0 defeat: "We need to keep working. I’ve never been in a position like that – playing like we are playing and not scoring, but I am sure the goals will come if we keep doing what we are doing.

"I’m sure the results will come for us. In a normal way, if we are playing like this in 10 games, we will lose two and win the rest. I think as soon as the first goal goes in, it will change and we will start winning games."

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score

Bruno Lage will be wondering how they've still not managed to score a league goal. They've made so many opportunities, it was quite incredible, United will be wondering how they've kept a clean sheet.

After the break, United slowed the tempo of the game down and played at their pace.

Then, with Cristiano Ronaldo on his way, as a young player, how do you answer the question - you score. That's what Greenwood has done.
