The Telegraph's Luke Edwards speaking on the Football Daily podcast: "I wasn't even shocked. There was a time when I'd watch Arsenal even in their recent history - I'm not going back to the Wenger years - when I wouldn't have seen that coming. Today I wasn't surprised at all, that's the most damning thing.
"I don't think any manager should be sacked three games into a season. Arteta has made changes, they've given him money to spend, they're trying to bring in players to fit his system, but it looks incredibly difficult to see what they're trying to do or how they've improved. If anything, they've gone backwards.
"We don't even judge Arsenal against teams like Chelsea and Man City - we expect them to lose. They've fallen into a league below the elite teams. They're in that bunch of mid-table clubs. I don't think any Arsenal supporter will be able to accept that, but that is unfortunately their reality now.
"October/November is sacking season in the Premier League and if we don't see a significant improvement, he'll be gone by the Autumn."
Head this way for the full episode.
Plenty of teams have plenty to shout about after some superb transfer business done so far this summer, not so much Arsenal though.
They've spent big this window but are currently propping up the table after a miserable start to the season. They were well beaten by Manchester City yesterday.
Ronaldo to Man United
Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score
We've always tracked his career and how well he's looked after himself and his physical appearance, he's that of a 28/29-year-old! Probably me in my early twenties, if that.
I don't see him as a 36-year-old. At Juventus I think he scored 101 goals - it's not like he's not still delivering.
He's a winner. They're signing a guy that can lead the team. He can take the ball, show his presence. It's a statement to the likes of Paul Pogba - it says: 'We're Manchester United and we're trying to step up and win the title.
'We've signed Sancho, Varane Ronaldo, we are buying. We're moving forward, come sign for Man United.' It's a statement to everybody.
Manchester United
More from Peter Schmeichel on how Ronaldo will impact the Manchester United team: "When you have got someone as prolific as he is in scoring goals, you have got to play him the way that gives him the opportunity to score goals.
"He is unbelievable, he has played in teams where he was scoring over 50 goals, without really having a set position, other than forward.
"I think that is what the team needs to build on. Having someone who can float around and take their opportunities. We saw not long ago that he is still lightning first.
"For me he is so good, even at 36 years of age that you have to build something around him."
Manchester United
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, speaking to Football Focus about the return of Cristiano Ronaldo: "That was the best news that could come, I think Manchester United having done quite well this transfer window.
"The signing of Varane was quite shrewd, and showed some intention for where the club wants to go.
"But to bring Ronaldo back is fantastic. I think it is a game changer, it puts Man United right in the frame now to be competing for the title."
As mentioned earlier one of the big talking points of the weekend was the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United.
The club's former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel was on Football Focus yesterday and here's what he had to say about the move...

BBC football expert
Harry Kane is staying. That is a big tick for the Tottenham supporters. They gave the striker a fantastic reception when he came off the bench against Wolves at Molineux. In the end, Daniel Levy has won another battle, so well done to him.
Nuno Espirito Santo has made a good start but they know they are not favourites to finish in the top four. Maybe this is the year they break back in. The problem with Tottenham is that they look very good and seem to be fine but then all of a sudden have a run of strange results.
Watford are back in the Premier League having been in and out of the top flight. A lot of their season will depend on their home form because I don't see them picking up too many points on the road. Like Brentford and Norwich, it will be tough for them.
Prediction: 3-0
Tottenham v Watford (14:00 BST)
Tottenham's big win of the summer transfer window was keeping hold of key striker Harry Kane.
He scored his first goals of the season with a brace against Pacos de Ferreira in midweek as Spurs reached the Europa Conference League group stage.
The England striker is expected to make his first Premier League start of the season today.
Hello!
Enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend so far? If you've opted for a pretty chilled Sunday then good decision because there's three Premier League games to get your teeth into today.
Wolves versus Manchester United is the late game with the action getting under way at Molineux at 16:30 BST but before that Burnley are at home to Leeds while Tottenham host Watford looking to make it three wins from three.
Both those games kick off at 14:00 BST.
There can be few more extraordinary days in football than the one that developed on Friday.
It started with Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly on his way to Manchester City and ended with him instead returning to Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have had a pretty good transfer window so far that has provided them with a title-challenging squad. Now they'll want to back it up with results on the pitch and a win against Wolves today will see them join the Premier League's early pacesetters.
