This is a shocker from David de Gea, it comes from a bit of misfortune. Scott McTominay tries to step in and block the ball and in doing so he knocks it behind Eric Bailly who steps in to do the same and they pass the ball right across the edge of the area.
It's a quick shot, it's tame - it's a side foot which should be straight to the body of De Gea. He half dives past it and puts his arms where his feet would be. We've seen him make some good saves over the years but he's made a right hash of that one.
Atalanta 1-0 Man Utd
United nearly draw level immediately as Cristiano Ronaldo looks to latch onto a through ball but Juan Musso is quickly off his line to gather, sending the Portuguese forward cartwheeling over him.
Juventus 1-0 Zenit St Petersburg
Paulo Dybala has put Juventus ahead against Zenit St Petersburg. They are top of Chelsea's group.
Josip Ilicic
Well.
Three at the back, four or five, it doesn't make a difference against a quality team, Manchester United concede the opener again.
It's Josip Ilicic who sweeps in first-time with his left foot from the edge of the area after good approach play from front man Duvan Zapata.
It looked straight at David de Gea, but somehow the Spanish goalkeeper was unable to keep it out.
After a VAR check for possible offside, the goal stands and Atalanta lead.
The other five matches in Europe are still goalless, though Zenit St Petersburg started strongly against Juventus.
Former Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren headed wide from a corner after three minutes but Juve have responded - Paulo Dybala has just hit the post.
All the big guns have started for Bayern Munich against Benfica, while Barcelona are still strong up front without Sergio Aguero.
Will this be Unai Emery's last game in charge of Villarreal after strong links with Newcastle? They are hosting Young Boys.

The referee strides over to Luke Shaw, he wants a word with the full-back after he makes a perfect challenge to dispossess Josip Ilicic.
"Well played, son."
Atalanta 0-0 Man Utd
Atalanta almost get their first sniff in behind United's back three but Duvan Zapata cannot take down Mario Pasalic's dinked pass.

Marcus Rashford had a long injury lay-off but he looks sharp tonight.
The England international is posing a threat to former Middlesbrough man Marten de Roon every time he approaches the box.

That was agonising! You just felt it would slowly trickle across the line.
The keeper was stranded from the deflection but unfortunately for United it came back off the goal frame and no one was there to tap it in.

As long as the back 5 are tight, and the real Pogba has turned up, we should see some sweet assists, and maybe a nice goal fest (Rashers, CR7 & Bruno?).

And United's good start almost pays off.
Marcus Rashford dances into the box and his shot is blocked, the Red Devils recycle it back towards Scott McTominay inside the area.
His shot takes a huge deflection off a defender - wrong-footing goalkeeper Juan Musso - and dribbles onto the foot of the post in slow-motion.

It's a good start from Manchester United, very comfortable. Not really allowing Atalanta too much possession and certainly not dangerous possession.
The surface looks quite slick though, a few players falling to the ground already, one to keep an eye on.

The atmosphere on a crisp night inside the stadium is terrific, both the home supporters and United's 800 travelling fans are making themselves heard.
Atalanta 0-0 Man Utd
It's taken just 19 seconds for Manchester United to have their first shot on target, Cristiano Ronaldo laces one from outside the box but it is straight down the throat of goalkeeper Juan Musso.

Ian: So 3-5-2 with Bailly in for Lindelof, Pogba for Fred and Rashford for Cavani. Same formation as Saturday, let's not get too carried away and see how it goes tonight and if it looks like it's not working out early Ole must adapt and go to back four, push Varane into DM and Pogba further up
Atalanta 0-0 Man Utd
Away we go at Gewiss Stadium.
Champions League anthem.
Goosebumps everytime.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to make sure his team have the opportunity on the ball to create chances and I can understand Marcus Rashford being in the team, his pace away from home is always ideal to have in the squad. United will come under pressure here at times and having that pace of Rashford is a good option.
Paul Pogba is there to release the passes and find the players at the top end of the pitch. He's been criticised for not being able to defend as well as some of the other Man United midfielders but he has got a back three or, at times, a back five behind him who should be able to take some of that pressure off and allow him to do what he does best.
