    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on BT Sport: "Obviously the start to the game has to be positive, we have to assert ourselves and make sure we build on the last performance."

On his three changes: "Eric Bailly has played international games and trained really hard and well, he's ready. We hope we see the best of Paul Pogba tonight, he and Bruno are very creative. Marcus Rashford has had a good start to his comeback, he is not 100% fit to play every game yet but we are hoping to see more today."

On three at the back: "It worked on Saturday, we felt we had a good balance and foundation. They are a good team, attacking-minded but I think we can match them, we have probably the tallest team I have ever put out in a competitive game."

Are you really going to start Edinson Cavani in consecutive matches? He's played relatively little so far this season and so has Marcus Rashford but he does have three goals in the four games so far.

Another interesting one is Mason Greenwood being on the bench - he was an unused substitute at Tottenham so we've not seen him on the pitch since half-time in the 5-0 against Liverpool.

Manchester United are looking to record their 150th victory in the European Cup/Champions League, which would make them the first English side to reach this milestone, and fourth overall after Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

  4. 'Biggest week of Solskjaer's managerial career'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2021

This Champions League campaign has not been straight forward for Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs a straight forward game this evening. One in which his team turn up, perform, keep a clean sheet and get the job done. If this is anything like game at Old Trafford there will be chances and goals but Solskjaer needs a result. This is a huge week, there's no getting away from that.

This is by no means behind Solskjaer - it's probably the biggest week in Solskjaer's managerial career so far. He's started it as well as could be with the win over Tottenham but this game and the Manchester City game are just huge.

United switched to a back three for the 3-0 win at Tottenham, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani leading the attack.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wouldn't be drawn on whether they would continue with the same formation tonight.

"I cannot give you the gameplan and the tactics of course, but we have a squad to play many different ways," said Solskjaer.

"You can put any tactics out or system out, it's the players within it and how they execute the role - that was the difference on Saturday.

"The quality of what we did was more important than the system we played."

  7. 'A completely different match'published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2021

Cristiano Ronaldo secured a memorable 3-2 comeback victory for Manchester United when the sides met a fortnight ago in Group F.

"The game will be a completely different match to the reverse fixture," said Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

"We did show a great deal of character at Old Trafford. There were more than 70,000 in that night.

"We need to make sure that we are willing and ready to take on Manchester United based on whether they set up as they did in their last game against Tottenham or whether they will set up as they did in the reverse fixture."

    Thanks Emma.

We knew beforehand which Chelsea would turn up, a Blues side that would be rock solid defensively and return home with the three points.

But will it be Jekyll or Hyde for the inconsistent Manchester United tonight?

Will it be #OleIn or #OleOut by the end of the night?

No time to hang about! We've got loads more football coming up.

Manchester United are in Italy to take on Atalanta. Super-sub Shamoon Hafez is jumping in to take over from me and (hopefully) keep you entertained with that one.

Chelsea have not been at their sparkling best, but they've controlled this game from start to finish. Yes they could've scored more goals but they've seen it through.

It sounds like an excuse, but one of the great strengths of this Chelsea team is that a few players don't rack up sizeable stats at the exclusion of others. Goals, assists and key passes come from all over the pitch. Trophies count, not individual numbers. Unrivalled strength in depth.
