Every time the ball falls to Reece James or Ben Chilwell in shooting opportunities the crowd shout 'SHOOT!'

Brilliant move from Chelsea, but no goal.

Hakim Ziyech exchanges passes with Callum Hudson-Odoi to set the winger away. He looks to curl a shot with his right foot but sees it blocked behind.

He had team-mates screaming for a pass in the middle.

Chelsea are just sharper to the ball. More alert, better drilled.

Another Chelsea goal and they have an iron grip on this game. It'll also put them in charge in the group.

The Blues controlled the first-half. Can they replicate that in the second?

• Michael Carrick is the first English manager to win his first game in charge of Manchester United (excluding second spells) since Walter Crickmer in November 1931.

• Cristiano Ronaldo's strike for Man Utd against Villarreal was the third time he has scored the match-winning goal in the final 15 minutes of a Champions League match this season - the most a single player has ever done so in a single season in the competition (excluding extra-time).

• Jadon Sancho scored his first ever Manchester United goal in what was his 15th appearance and from his 11th attempted shot in all competitions.

Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick, speaking to BT Sport:"We came here to win and I believed we would, that we were ready. It wasn't an easy game because they're a good team and they make you work. The boys dug in and had to do that at times. I was delighted with them.

"I don't think we could have hoped to come out and play pretty football from the word go and in some ways that was the best way to win - we had to show character and fight. We got back together and the subs made a massive impact.

"When Ronaldo gets the chance he puts it away. Jadon was brilliant. He put a real effort in defensively. It was a big night for him.

"I've enjoyed the whole thing. It's not been an easy couple of days but it feels like the result is for Ole. We had a job to do, things needed to be taken care of and I was happy to do it. Thankfully it all went OK in the end."

RB Salzburg started the night at the top of Group G but have now been replaced by Lille who have swept into the lead over the Austrians in France.

There are just three points separating the four teams. Elsewhere in that group, Sevilla lead Wolfsburg 1-0.

In Manchester United's group, Young Boys have equalised against Atalanta. It means Villarreal - beaten 2-0 by United earlier - stay in second spot for now.

It's half-time at the Nou Camp where it's goalless between Barcelona and Benfica. Barca are second in Group E well behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich. More importantly they are two points ahead of Benfica.

I was convinced the Chelsea goal would get ruled out and I still think it hit his hands. But take nothing away from the finish and Chelsea have looked a threat on set plays.

Chelsea have looked in control, Juventus haven't really had any chances and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a couple of substitutions come on to try and push them on even further.

The Chelsea machine rumbles relentlessly on. They've controlled this.

Juve end the half with a bit of pressure. There first for a while.

Edouard Mendy has had nothing to do, except for the Thiago Silva clearance off the line but that was more of a mistake from Chelsea pressing with the wrong intent.

They have controlled the game but they need to be more ruthless in the final third, they've had chances. But that's probably because they're playing with three number 10s and not a recognised striker.

Juve aren't really posing a threat here right now. Chelsea managing the game superbly.

Callum Hudson-Odoi gets goal side of Weston McKennie to chest down a chipped ball over the top. He can't get the ball down quickly enough, though, and can only poke it wide under pressure.

Chelsea are a threat from every corner.

The latest is just a fraction too high for Thiago Silva, who rises and sees the ball flick off his bonce.

It's just not quite clicking for Hakim Ziyech yet. He underlines that by sending a pass that is designed for Callum Hudson-Odoi flying out of play ahead of the winger.

Khan Kahn: Not saying I think this kind of goal should be ruled out but by law, it has to be, it hit Rudiger’s arm so whether intentional or not the rule says it should be chalked off and there was also a foul on Bonucci too so Chelsea lucky there

Poor corner. Low, soft and to the near post where it is flicked wide under pressure by a Juve boot.

Juve win a corner. They've been second best here but are still very much in it at 1-0.

Brilliant save - if there's anyone you want it to fall to it's Reece James with his rocket of a right foot. Wojciech Szczesny has had to really pull out a strong save - it's a difficult angle as well.
