The home crowd is a bit more subdued having once again seen Kylian Mbappe be the difference between the two sides.

The only thing at the moment that will soften the blow is that they will be confident he will be pulling on a Real shirt next season.

Graeme: I know he's not been great this season but Lionel Messi so clearly still "has it" more than Cristiano Ronaldo which begs the question why were Manchester United not doing everything they could to secure HIM this summer? On such mistakes seasons are made!!

Pablo Sarabia has been very quiet so far. He wins a free-kick off Oleksandr Zinchenko here but Sporting have not tested City at all in the final third as we approach half time.

You just knew when Kylian Mbappe raced onto that ball forward that Real were in trouble.

He continues to give the Real defence a headache with a back heel to tee up Lionel Messi but the forward can't get his shot off.

Real cannot afford to concede again before the break.

Emphatic finish from Mbappe. He was cool and calm in that situation but it was the vision from Neymar to see that run. There was acres in behind that Real Madrid defence. It is a big goal just before the break. What will Carlo Ancelotti do?

  10. goal

    GOAL - Real Madrid 0-1 PSG (0-2 agg)published at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

    Kylian Mbappe (40 mins)

    This one counts!

It was always going to be from a break and it was always going to be that man Kylian Mbappe as he races onto Neymar's fine ball forward and charges towards the Real goal.

David Alaba tries his best to keep with the France forward but a burst of pace puts Mbappe clear and then he fires beyond Thibaut Courtois at his near post.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

Islam Slimani is shown a yellow card now too for an elbow in the face of John Stones.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

    Ahh what a chance!

Antonio Adan pulls off a crucial save for Sporting as it's flicked over the top for Raheem Sterling. He's one-on-one with the keeper and tries to dink it over him but Adan sees it coming.

Gabriel Jesus is in the book a few moments later for a rash challenge.

  13. CLOSE!published at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

That disallowed goal for PSG has brought Real Madrid to life as they recognise how close they were to being in real danger of having a mountain to climb.

PSG drop back as Real pass the ball around the edge of the area before Karim Benzema sends a header wide after being picked out by a brilliant Toni Kroos ball.

That was close. It was a warning sign for Madrid. That sort of thing can happen at any minute.

With Jack Grealish, you could argue - will he add anything to their Champions League competition? Time will tell whether he does or not.

  16. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

Kylian Mbappe slams the ball into the back of the net after Nuno Mendes had raced onto a ball over the top but Real breathe a sigh of relief as the flag is up for offside, Mendes having not checked his run.

A let off for the hosts.

  17. Postpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

It's a training session for City. Phil Foden messes up his pass though, and Sporting break down the right. It's a decent cross in too but John Stones gets enough on it before Matheus Reis wins a throw-in on the far side.

What a run from Lionel Messi. He keeps the ball so close to his feet and is so nimble it is hard for a defender to touch him but PSG are starting to dictate with Verratti and Messi in midfield.

Real Madrid are struggling a bit at the moment.

  19. Postpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

Lovely little passage of play involving Neymar and Lionel Messi as they play some quick, intricate passes to each other before the former slips Messi in on the left. He dinks the ball over the goalkeeper but there's no team-mate to tap into the empty net at the far post.

  20. Postpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

No goals but this has been a fascinating watch so far. Both sides have had their moments and both have forced some good saves out of the respective goalkeepers.
