Jack: I'm generally not in favour of scrapping the away goals but I guess it'll lead Real Madrid to attack more.

Dominance. City are pinging it around under little pressure. Sporting, whether intentional or not, are sat right back.

CJ Egan-Riley then curls a deep cross in from the right and it has to be headed behind for a corner.

Just over 10 minutes in and it has perhaps been what you would have expected - high tempo with a raucous atmosphere in the stands. Real Madrid have had almost all the possession but PSG look a menace on the break.

  6. 'Mind the gap Man Utd'published at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

It's only three days since City enjoyed the most emphatic of derby day victories, thumping neighbours Manchester United 4-1, and unsurprisingly their fans are still celebrating - they've just been singing 'Mind the gap, mind the gap Man United' and another chant with less printable lyrics.

  7. 'Jesus is a really good asset'published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

    Izzy Christiansen
England and Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Gabriel Jesus has always been a hard worker, I like that about him. I think he's a good squad player. Can I see him being a dominant nine for city in the future? No, I don't think I can but he's a really good asset to this team, and his work rate is highly regarded by his manager.

  8. CLOSE!published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

This is where PSG are going to be a real threat as they almost punish Real on the counter.

Lionel Messi of all people pinches the ball off Karim Benzema on the edge of his own area and then sends Neymar away. The Brazilian drives forward before finding support in Kylian Mbappe and his low shot has power but is straight at Thibaut Courtois.

    Good chance.

  10. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

    Oooh.

City win a free-kick which is floated in by Oleksandr Zinchenko. John Stones' touch is excellent at the back post and he sets up Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian is preparing to shoot before he feels a nudge in the back and goes down. There were big appeals from the City players for a penalty but nothing given...

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

Marco Asensio is seeing lots of the ball in these early stages as he tries his luck again, this time from just outside the box but again his shot is blocked.

Another big roar from the home fans, they are pleased with what they have seen so far.

  12. Postpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

Bernardo Silva wins it high on the right and slips it through to Phil Foden. He's not quite sharp enough and it's nicked off him as he tries to spin inside in the box.

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

The pace of Kylian Mbappe would frighten any defender including Virgil van Dijk. He is that quick.

Real Madrid are playing high and pushing right up the pitch. Mbappe will stay and not always track Dani Carvajal which will leave a large amount of space.

  14. Postpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

Real Madrid just keep on coming forward and they look a real threat down the left through Vinicius Junior, who gets into space and then crosses into the box but Marco Asensio's volley hits a player and PSG escape again.

  15. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Man City 0-0 Sporting (5-0 agg)

Sporting have barely had the ball in the first five minutes. Pedro Porro has it briefly but gives it away and it might be a while before the visitors get it back again.

  16. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 PSG (0-1 agg)

It felt like Kylian Mbappe took an extra long look around all the stands during his warm up, drinking it all in ahead of a summer move here?

He'll be desperate to have another headline-grabbing impact tonight but PSG are yet to get forward as they deal with the early pressure from the hungry hosts.

  17. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022

Bright start by the hosts as they attack inside the opening 40 seconds but the ball into the box hits the back of Marco Asensio's feet and PSG clear.

Great atmosphere inside the stadium with the Real players urging the crowd to roar them on. They'll need their 12th man tonight.

Now the lights are back on, you can see there is a pretty good turn-out at Etihad Stadium tonight, especially when you consider the state of this tie.

Manchester City's Ukraine international Oleksandr Zinchenko starts tonight and got a huge cheer from around the stadium when his name was announced just before kick-off.

Raheem Sterling makes an early run down the middle and he's not too far away from getting on the end of a long ball.

The goalkeeper comes out sharply to collect it, but City come straight back at Sporting with Sterling's cross from the left blocked.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2022
