  1. CLOSE!published at 21:16 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Villarreal 1-0 Bayern Munich

    Gerard Moreno again!

The striker looks certain to smash into the roof of the net from close range but Alphonso Davies slides in with a massive, maybe even tie-saving, challenge.

  2. Time for Lukaku?published at 21:15 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

I think they need to bring Romelu Lukaku on, I know his form hasn't been great this season and there's question marks at times over him.

But they need someone to come on and bully Militao and Alaba and put them under pressure - it's been too easy for them and you have seen they can be vulnerable to crosses.

Mark Burt: The Brentford debacle was a warning sign, but this performance is more worrying. The passion is there from Chelsea but the fundamentals aren’t. Real could score five or six.

Arjun Singh: If we’re going to give goals away like that, we don’t deserve to go through. That’s appalling from us.

Andrew Priestley: Mendy fluffing his lines with Kepa looking on from the bench while Courtois is between the sticks for the opposition. A story of Chelsea GKs past and present.

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

Better from Chelsea as they work it down the right and Hakim Ziyech whips a dangerous ball in towards Kai Havertz, but Eder Militao defends it well.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Villarreal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Big moment as only the woodwork denies Villarreal a second!

Gerard Moreno has the ball outside the area and has space so he goes for goal, beating Manuel Neuer but then seeing his shot bounce back off the post.

    So close.

  6. Postpublished at 54 mins

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

Casemiro thumps Dani Carvajal on the shoulder in appreciation after a spot of handy defending. Chelsea win the corner but cannot make anything of it.

  7. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

Amid the madness I didn't even get to tell you who went off for Chelsea at half-time, it was N'Golo Kante and Andreas Christensen who were replaced by Hakim Ziyech and Mateo Kovacic as, like Phil said, Thomas Tuchel opted for a change of shape.

  8. 'Cannot believe that save'published at 21:09 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

    Karen Carney
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I thought that was in, I cannot believe how he saved that, Azpilicueta has absolutely smashed it.

I cannot believe that save, it is so good, it is going into the top corner, to get across and have the power in his right hand and tip it over is absolutely phenomenal

People say the two players that have carried Real Madrid this season are Benzema and Courtois and you can see that tonight.

  9. CLOSE!published at 21:09 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Villarreal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Better from Bayern Munich as they go close to snatching an equaliser as the ball is fizzed across goal and Thomas Muller just needs to make contact to turn in from close range but doesn't connect.

  10. Chelsea's shamblespublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Beyond belief. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel made those changes to try and force an equaliser and then that happens.

What was Edouard Mendy thinking? Forty seconds after the break and Real Madrid have been gifted complete control once more.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 50 mins

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

What a hit from Cesar Azplicueta, but what a save from Thibaut Courtois!

The Chelsea defender lets rip from distance and his effort appears to be heading for the top corner before his former team-mate flies across the goal to tip it over at full stretch.

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

Successive hat-tricks for Karim Benzema in the Champions League, he seems to get better with age.

  13. Postpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Villarreal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Juan Foyth sends the ball into the box as Villarreal look to stun Bayern again but it sails over Francis Coquelin's head and into Manuel Neuer's gloves.

Alphonso Davies then fires wide for Bayern, who are yet to register a shot on target.

  14. 'What an absolute mess'published at 21:06 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid

    Karen Carney
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

What an absolute mess. Terrible from Chelsea.

It's come from a Chelsea attack and a massive booted clearance.

There's no one around Mendy, he's 30 yards out of his box and he tries to pass to Rudiger, it's too short. It's an error, a lack of concentration.

  15. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 1-3 Real Madridpublished at 21:03 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Karim Benzema (46 mins)

    Unbelievable!

A hat-trick for Karim Benzema, but an absolute horror show for Chelsea.

It's just a long hoof forward from Real Madrid but Edouard Mendy, miles out of his penalty area, fluffs his pass to Antonio Rudiger and Benzema rolls into an empty net from outside the box.

    Ruthless!

Lewis Keeffe: No away goals rule will suit Chelsea and Tuchel. But the most impressive manager of the last eight is Unai Emery. Giant slayer. Is there a manager who deserves a Champions League trophy more? He lives for European competition?

Kyle Utterson: Fantastic header from Havertz. Chelsea deserved it - they don't deserve to be two goals down. That said what a miss from Benzema to deny him the hat-trick. Brilliant game and great atmosphere too.
