    Chelsea 0-2 Real Madrid

That's lovely from Reece James to wriggle free on the right and glide a cross into the box, but there's no one gambling on the ball and it runs behind.

    Villarreal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Bayern have not been at the races yet but let's not take anything away from Villarreal's display. They've been winning the 50-50s, defending well and attacking with pace. They are well worth their lead.

Mickey Bricks: Three years ago I tweeted on this page that Benzema was better than every Premier League centre forward and got downvoted. Three years later and it's even more true. The man is like fine wine.

Two of the best headed goals you're likely to see by Benzema. Class.

So two in the space of three minutes for Karim Benzema.

Chelsea are absolutely rocked. What an unbelievable header again.

It's all about the delivery. Real have been causing issues on the flanks and Chelsea haven't dealt with it.

It's difficult because Benzema is leaning back and had to cushion it but the accuracy, wow, it's an exquisite header.

Karim Benzema. What a player. Two quite magnificent headers from the master striker.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is calm itself. Barely flinches other than to order his players to keep it going.

  11. 'Benzema movement tore Chelsea apart'published at 20:26 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

What a team goal the first was, that was absolutely unbelievable.

In the build-up, I'm thinking look at the rotations, the movements, they are tearing Chelsea apart.

We spoke about Benzema's movement, because he comes deep like Harry Kane does, no one is picking him up when he gets into the area and what a header.

    Karim Benzema (24 mins)

    Wow!

An absolute masterclass from Karim Benzema at Stamford Bridge.

This time it is Luka Modric who curls a delicious cross to the edge of the six-yard box and Benzema pulls away from his marker before guiding a header into the bottom corner.

    Chelsea are stunned!

  13. Postpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Villarreal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Superb challenge by Raul Albiol on Serge Gnabry right on the edge of the Villarreal box. The defender had to get that right otherwise Gnabry was in.

Great work from Jamal Musiala in the build up too with his burst of pace creating the opportunity.

  14. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 0-1 Real Madridpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 6 April 2022

    Karim Benzema (21 mins)

    Who else!

What a sublime header that is from the Real Madrid captain.

Vinicius Junior plays a one-two with Karim Benzema and breaks in behind down the left, before pulling a cross back towards Benzema and he engineers a superb header that is in the back of the net before Edouard Mendy can react.

Mason Mount might not be the ideal man for knocking looping balls into the box towards, but the Chelsea midfielder manages to find some space on the edge of the six-yard box and nods towards goal, thought it's easy for Thibaut Courtois.

    Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid

    Karen Carney
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been a brilliant opening 16 or so minutes. The football has been exquisite from both teams.

Real Madrid are trying to triple down on Chelsea on the flanks but that leaves them exposed in the middle.

Really enjoying this game so far.

  17. Postpublished at 18 mins

Spot of concern for Real Madrid, as Eder MIlitao goes down clutching his hip and will need some treatment. He'll be back on after a dose of the cold spray.

A quarter of an hour gone and this has been a really good start by Villarreal, who have a free kick in a decent position. The delivery is flicked on but the ball loops comfortable into Manuel Neuer's hands.

There is no way Chelsea are winning the Champions League. Campaign will be over by 10 tonight.
