The Liverpool haters might not like the score but..but wherever you are and whoever your playing against to come back from 2-0 down in a semi final after being so rattled and bested for 45 mins ... Well, that takes some character and some ability. Credit where it's due. Liverpool are some team.

Villarreal knew the game was over when the second Liverpool goal went in. They were worried at half-time but job done. It’s not as easy as Liverpool would have liked. They’ve had to suffer but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing.

Two added minutes to play and then Liverpool can celebrate reaching their third final of the season.

They've lost their heads.
The fans are applauding his commitment but that's capped off a bad night for Capoue and Villarreal.
In the first half they were there but the second half Liverpool have outclassed them.
They've given it their all. They've rattled Liverpool, took the game to them, but the better side over two legs have gone through.

How have Liverpool not scored again here?
It's about six on two but after being found in the box Mohamed Salah pokes his shot wide.

It's a big deal turning this round. They have characters in the dressing room. You have to be resilient and they've shown that in abundance.

Liverpool looking to really rub it in.
Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz both see shots blocked before Jordan Henderson fires over from range.
This is the end of the game we all initially thought we'd get.

And the home side will end with 10 men as Etienne Capoue clatters Curtis Jones and receives his second yellow.
Salt in wounds.

I think that's a really poor one. That's an angry challenge. That's wild. He's lucky to just see yellow.

Two big milestones for Sadio Mane tonight.
His 15th Champions League goal means he has surpassed Didier Drogba (14) as the leading African goalscorer in the knockout phase of the competition.
Also, most Champions League knockout phase goals for an English club:
15 - Sadio Mané (all Liverpool)
15 - Frank Lampard (all Chelsea)
14 - Wayne Rooney (all Manchester United)

Oof, that is naughty.
Pau Torres smashes Sadio Mane on halfway. Nowhere near the ball. Nailed on booking.

Geronimo Rulli seems to be taking his first name a bit too literally.
He charges out of his goal like a mad man to tackle Mohamed Salah.
James Milner is on for Fabinho.

Rulli finally saves one!
Curtis Jones nearly scores with his first touch - a low shot from inside the box that the home keeper dives in front of before a team-mate hacks away.

Job done. Time for some subs.
Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson and Kostas Tsimikas are all on.
Villarreal also go sub crazy, sending on Manu Trigueros and Serge Aurier.

Villarreal have basically thrown the towel in now.

Josh Earl: Rulli is really, really bad. Got to be one of the worst keepers in Europe.
Andrew Morris: What a Rulli big mess. The Villarreal keeper has handed the tie to Liverpool on a silver platter.
James, St Albans: This is what Emery gets for picking his second best keeper. Asenjo is a world ahead of Rulli, which isn't hard. This is the Emery Arsenal fans know.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is booked for a foul.
Dani Parejo swings in the free-kick that flicks off Andy Robertson's head and flies wide of the far post.
Would only have been a consolation.

The goalkeeper Rulli is at fault again. Mane is so composed. He really is. He takes his time. That ball in behind is devastating.
Rulli tries to get back. Torres tries to get back. Empty net, you could have popped that one in Denno [commentator Ian Dennis].

So that is now a record number of goals for a season for Liverpool. 139 and counting.
