    Sadio Mane

    Done and dusted!

Sadio Mane runs from his own half to get to a Naby Keita pass ahead of Geronimo Rulli. There is a centre-back chasing back, but the forward takes his time before rolling the ball into the unguarded net to settle this tie.

There is a bit of crowd disorder in the ultras section. I can see objects being thrown as the police are having to move in.

Night and day these two halves for Liverpool.

Dominated in the first, now they are bossing this after the break.

They have also equalled the club record for most goals scored in all competitions in a single season (138). They also netted 138 goals in 1985-86.

It's game over. Liverpool are getting major joy in the wide areas. Trent Alexander-Arnold is on the money with the cross and Diaz is there.

He drifts in the middle of the goal and powers a header down. He has to generate the power with his neck musckes. It goes through Rulli's legs.

It looks like that will be enoigh for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp can breathe easier now.

    Luis Diaz

Liverpool are surely heading to Paris now!

What an impact Luis Diaz has had on this game. He times his run to perfection to charge into space and head Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross home. The keeper got a boot to it, but can't keep it out.

The two-goal cushion is restored. Surely they can't have it taken away again now.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 67 mins

    Villarreal 2-1 Liverpool (agg: 2-3)

    So close!

Luis Diaz cuts in from the left, past Juan Foyth, past Etienne Capoue, and then curls a shot that clips the far post before going wide.

From the resulting corner, Ibrahima Konate heads wide.

Either of those go in and that is tie over.

We felt it was coming in this second half. Liverpool have been a different team in the second half. They've been more precise with their passing and Villarreal haven't been able to keep up their intesity.

It was a decent strike - we were expecting a cross - but Rulli should do so much better. It's a big goal.

    Fabinho

    MASSIVE GOAL!

Mohamed Salah picks out Fabinho in the box. The midfielder takes a touch, weighs up his options and then fires a low shot that finds the net through the legs of Geronimo Rulli.

Is that the big psychological blow the Reds needed in this tie?
