  4. Can Archer hit the target?published at 19:22 British Summer Time 24 August 2021

Barrow v Aston Villa (19:45 BST)

There's a full Aston Villa debut for striker Cameron Archer this evening.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan in the National League with Solihull Moors and looks likely to play at the top of Villa's attack.

With no senior forwards on the bench, indeed nobody over the age of 20 at all, Dean Smith will hope the teenager can take any chances that come his way.

  9. Early chances for Swansea and Accringtonpublished at 19:16 British Summer Time 24 August 2021

Elsewhere, Swansea have had a couple of early chances against Plymouth, with three corners in quick succession.

Kyle Joseph has seen a header from Jake Bidwell's cross deflected just wide for a corner, before Bidwell had a decent chance himself not long after, but it wasn't not enough to trouble Argyle's Callum Burton.

At Boundary Park, Accrington's Joe Pritchard has come closest with a header on target, but it was an easy save in the end for Laurie Walker.

  15. The Valencia connection...published at 19:04 British Summer Time 24 August 2021

    Huddersfield v Everton (19:45 BST)

    Carlos CorberanImage source, Getty Images

Huddersfield snuck into the second round of the competition on penalties, seeing off Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United, and seem to have put an indifferent start to the Championship season behind them with back-to-back wins.

After an opening draw against Derby and 5-1 thumping at the hands of Fulham, the Terriers have beaten both Preston and Sheffield United.

Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan is now looking forward to coming up against a manager he admires in Rafa Benitez.

“It means a lot, he’s one of the best coaches in the world," he said. “I am from Valencia, and his first title and his first important impact in his career as a coach was with Valencia, winning the league with a team that was not the favourite to do it.

"It was his first top-level achievement. He was then coaching at the highest level in the Champions League and Uefa Cup doing amazing work.”
