Now they're looking for a second away win of the campaign.

Viktor Gyokeres has netted his fifth league goal of the season, slotting into the bottom corner to fire them the lead at Millwall.

The Swede had started the move which led to the opener on halfway, spreading the ball wide to Dom Hyam.

Rams fans react to Derby's troubles

Derby's first game since news of their impending administration is under way against Stoke. Here's what some Rams fans have been saying on social media....

Jonathan: I think a lot of us Derby fans have had a lot to ponder in the last 24 hours. Quite frankly many words can describe how I am feeling…. Dejected, devastated, sad and angry. Is there a way out for our beloved football club?

Malcolm: It's now our duty to make sure going forward we hold the owner accountable by means of clear and open communication channels with the fans.

Dan: This football club belongs to the 800,000 people that live in Derbyshire. It is not Mel Morris’ club. He was lucky enough to be trusted to look after it. He neglected it and broke our trust. We won’t let it die. It’s OUR club.

    Derby 0-0 Stoke

Derby fans probably just happy that they've got a game to take their minds off what's going on away from the pitch.

They've made a decent start here, as Lee Buchanan sees an effort cleared off the line.

Early couple of chances for Millwall at The Den

First Coventty defender Kyle McFadzean throws his way in front of Tom Bradshaw's shot, and a minute later Bradshaw sends another effort wide.

The Lions have conceded the first goal in four of their five home games in all competitions this season.

Boss Gary Rowett will want to break that cycle.

It's not a great start for Birmingham. But going 1-0 down against anybody in the first minute is not a great start.

Siriki Dembele flashes a dangerous ball into the box looking for Jonson Clarke-Harris and it's panic stations for Blues inside the opening minute with the ball eventually going into the net off Harlee Dean.

Posh have lost four in a row but that's the perfect start this afternoon.

  12. Black Cats lead way in third tierpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 18 September 2021

    League One preview

Top of the table Sunderland are seeking their fourth win in a row away at Fleetwood Town.

Lee Johnson’s men have won five out of six so far this season as they seek automatic promotion back to the Championship while Fleetwood languish in 17th.

Second-placed Wigan are also on a run of three wins on the bounce and haven’t lost since the opening day. They face a tough test away at sixth-placed Accrington Stanley.

At the other end of the table, three teams are still searching for their first victories. Ipswich Town made 19 signings this summer but it really hasn’t clicked for them yet. They go to Lincoln City.

Crewe Alexandra sit narrowly above rock bottom Doncaster Rovers, and both desperately need a big afternoon having just one and two points respectively so far. Crewe have the tougher fixture of the two, hosting seventh placed Burton Albion, while Doncaster are at home to Morecambe.

Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers both sit a point outside the play-off places.

The R's host Bristol City as Mark Warburton takes charge of the west London club for the 100th time in the league, while Rovers travel to last season's beaten play-off semi-finalists Barnsley.

Lowly Peterborough, who have the joint-worst defensive record in the division with 17 goals conceded, welcome a Birmingham City side which shipped four goals against Fulham in midweek.

Middlesbrough host Blackpool - with the Seasiders looking for a second win of the campaign - while Luton Town entertain Swansea.

The Hatters are four without a win, drawing their past three, while Russell Martin has only tasted victory once since taking charge of the Swans.

Chris Hughton became the first managerial casualty of the Championship season on Thursday, when Nottingham Forest brought his 11-month spell in the dugout to an end.

Forest are bottom of the table with one point, having lost six of their seven games this season.

Hughton had led Newcastle and Brighton to promotion to the top flight, but the 62-year-old was unable to work his magic at the City Ground.

Steven Reid takes over as interim head coach and begins with a trip to Huddersfield Town, who have won four of their past five.

  15. Can Harrogate remain unbeaten?published at 14:43 British Summer Time 18 September 2021

    League Two preview

Over in League Two today, only one team has had an unbeaten start to the season so far: Harrogate Town, who sit behind Forest Green in second having played one less match.

They’re away at 11th placed Port Vale this afternoon, while Forest Green go to Stevenage.

Seventh placed Rochdale are looking for their third win in a row away at struggling Mansfield today, who sit just above the relegation zone having lost their past four. Mid-table Sutton, similarly, are on a good run of back-to-back wins and they face a tricky away tie at Exeter City, who are unbeaten in the last five.

Oldham Athletic remain rooted to the bottom of the table, having lost six of their seven matches so far, and face Hartlepool United at home. Oldham have yet to pick up a point at home, whereas Hartlepool have yet to pick up any points on the road, all of which will change in one team’s favour later on.

Northampton's game against Swindon got under way at 14:00 BST, and it's goalless approaching half-time.

Oldham Athletic are another EFL club enduring a difficult time.

Latics fans protested against owner Abdallah Lemsagam before kick-off against Hartlepool today.

The Moroccan took over the League Two club in 2018 but his tenure has been highly unpopular with fans.

Supporters carried a coffin bearing the message 'RIP OAFC' outside Boundary Park, with one dressed as the Grim Reaper as well.

  17. What next for Derby and Rooney?published at 14:38 British Summer Time 18 September 2021

    Derby v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Wayne RooneyImage source, Getty Images

The saga at Derby County took another twist yesterday, with the news the Rams are set to go into administration.

The Pride Park outfit were already primed for a possible points deduction for breaching EFL accounting rules.

But a 12-point penalty will see Wayne Rooney's side, who have taken seven points from their first seven games, consigned to another season battling relegation.

The club remains up for sale and the future is uncertain, while on the pitch Derby face a tricky match today.

The Rams, who are four without a win, welcome a Stoke City side who sit fifth in the table.

Unbeaten pair West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth lead the chasing pack, with both sides locked on identical records on 15 points.

The Baggies have drawn their past two, and Valerien Ismael's side make the trip to Preston, who are four without defeat, this afternoon.

Meanwhile Bournemouth go to a Cardiff side who have lost two of their past three.

The Cherries have a striker in form in Dominic Solanke, who has netted five times in his past five Championship outings.

Coventry City are also in the mix on 15 points, and journey to Millwall looking for a fifth win in six.

  20. Silva's Fulham lead the waypublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 18 September 2021

    Fulham v Reading (15:00 BST)

    Aleksandar MitrovicImage source, Rex Features

Fulham shrugged off a shock defeat at Blackpool last Saturday to return to the top of the Championship with a convincing 4-1 win at Birmingham in midweek.

Marco Silva's Whites have won five of their past six and boast the best attack AND the best defence in the division, with 17 scored and five conceded.

Star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has bagged six in six, and a total of 44 in 64 Championship outings.

Reading come into the game having recorded a first win in five last time out against Peterborough.

They rely on John Swift for goals - the midfielder has scored seven and set up another three of the 13 the Royals have netted.
