    Hearts 0-0 Hibernian

Joe Newell's looping cross comes back off the top of Craig Gordon's crossbar! The Hibs midfielder was trying to pick out Martin Boyle at the back post.

Up the other end and Liam Boyce heads Stephen Kingsley's cross onto the roof of the net. Loosening up a bit, now!

  2. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Hibernian

Ben Woodburn has been lively for Hearts, Another nice counter and he's slipped through with only Ryan Porteous standing between him and a run at goal. The Hibs defender makes a crucial tackle, though.

A minute later and he recovers from a mistake to stop Gary Mackay-Steven's cross.

  4. CLOSE!published at 14 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Hibernian

Having just said Hibs were on top, Hearts go close to the opener!

Ben Woodburn combines with Gary Mackay-Steven, and flashes a shot just over Matt Macey's crossbar.

    Close.

  5. Hibs on toppublished at 13 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs have definitely had the better of this game so far. Martin Boyle, who seems to be roaming all over the place, pops up on the right and puts in a good delivery, which James Scott and Kevin Nisbet both fail to connect well with.

Hearts race up the other end, but Ben Woodburn is judged to have pushed over Ryan Porteous. Cue the boos.

I think that was a fine tackle. Michael Smith got plenty of the ball. In the early stages, Hibs have had the better of this

Michael Smith flies in on Josh Doig. Meaty. Hibs get the free kick.

Referee Nick Walsh has already been a busy man.

  8. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Hibernian

First bit of good play comes from Hibs. Nice interplay in midfield and Chris Cadden is set free down the right.

His cross is brilliant and Kevin Nisbet gets something on it, but Hearts manage to scramble to ball clear.

Another foul. Not much football so far. Both sides settling in.

About five free kicks so far, though.

  11. Postpublished at 1 min

We have our first late tackle after 30 seconds, as Ryan Porteous upends Liam Boyce. Hearts to deliver...

And then Hibs get a free kick as Craig Halkett pushes Paul McGinn to the deck. Silly.

  15. Win would be 'huge' for Hibs - Rosspublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 12 September 2021

    Hearts v Hibernian (12:00)

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Sportsound: "The incentive of obviously winning the game to where it takes us [top of the table], fans back in the stadium - it's brilliant.

"We have worked hard at creating a culture within the group that are desperate to deliver success for everybody at the club and for the fanbase. This is a big, big game for us as it is for Hearts but a huge game for us to go and win game.

"In isolation, these games mean a huge win. It's an enormous buzz. You carry the responsibility of winning or losing the game but it just makes you desperate to deliver success for the 3,000-plus fans that will with us today.

"They're very difficult to predict. The beginning of the game's going to be frantic."

  19. The rise of Martin Boylepublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 12 September 2021

    Hearts v Hibernian (12:00)

News of Martin Boyle's knock on international duty gave every Hibs fan the fear. But the Australian international is fit and raring to go, and my colleague Nick McPheat has been looking back on his journey.

It is some journey, as well. Starting fairly unimpressively at Montrose, Boyle has become one of the league's outstanding attackers.

  20. 'It's going to be real spectacle' - Neilsonpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 12 September 2021

    Hearts v Hibernian (12:00)

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson tells BBC Sportsound: It's been a longer build-up to the game. We've been waiting for this to come over the international break and delighted it's finally here. Hopefully we can put on a show and get the three points.

"It's been 18 months since the derby with fans so it's going to be real spectacle today.

"It's really important that we're the top team in the city. We've had a difficult couple of years. This gives us the chance to finish today top of the league clear. It's going to be a full house, the place will be absolutely rocking.

"Hibs have had a good start to the season, similar to ourselves. There's no doubt Hibs have got an attacking threat. They'll potentially change their shape to match us up. Our formation's been pretty consistent and we'll stick to that today."
