Lyon look comfortable with their defensive quality. They also have the tools to pick out the space when Rangers attack them. Lyon's runners from deep are outnumbering Rangers on the counter.

    Rangers 0-2 Lyon

Joe Aribo is booked after lunging in following a poor first touch on the edge of the box.

He was trying to shift the ball onto his left foot when he really should have just cracked it with his right.

Alfredo Morelos is also booked for dissent.

  4. Kent's night overpublished at 70 mins

    Rangers 0-2 Lyon

Kemar Roofe is indeed on for Ryan Kent.

Hopefully it's not too bad for Kent, he looked like he was recapturing some of his best form tonight and in the second half against St Johnstone.

Xherdan Shaqiri is on for Lyon. Goalscorer Karl Toko Ekambi makes way.

    Rangers 0-2 Lyon

Better from Rangers in the last five minutes.

But there's some worrying looks as Ryan Kent pulls up as he chases down a through ball. Looks like his night is done.

Kemar Roofe is ready to come on.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 65 mins

    Rangers 0-2 Lyon

    SO unlucky for James Tavernier.

He curls the free kick against the outside of the post. Close one. Jerome Boateng is replaced by 20-year-old Ivorian defender Sinale Diomande.

Davis off for Wright is a bit of a strange one. Maybe he's struggling a little but hopefully, it means Aribo can push further forward too. Rangers have to go man for man and be on top of them.

    Rangers 0-2 Lyon

Lyon are brilliant at pinching the ball, which launches them on a counter.

Young right-back Malo Gusto puts in a terrific delivery, but Islam Slimani can't meet it.

The French side are in control right now.

Rangers need somebody to produce something special here.

A vital touch from Jerome Boateng. He gets the faintest of flicks on a header.

If he missed, Ryan Kent was lurking. Scott Wright looks to be coming on.

It's a calamity. Again, it is poor from Barisic though out wide. McGregor produces a wonder save and then it goes in off his own player, in that fashion.

GOAL Rangers 0-2 Lyonpublished at 54 mins

    James Tavernier (own goal)

The ball finally finds its way in. Unlucky for Rangers.

Steven Davis wins the ball on the edge of the box, then loses it to Lucas Paqueta. He puts in a lovely reverse pass for Houssem Aouar, who is denied by Allan McGregor.

Islam Slimani's follow-up is then cleared off the line by Connor Goldson, but it smacks off Tavernier and into the net.

A tough ask for Rangers now.

    Rangers 0-1 Lyon

    Mark Hateley

    Quote Message

Good start to the half from Lyon, they're right on the front foot looking for that killer second goal. Ekambi had a chance similar to his goal and Goldson's block was a big let-off for Rangers - it looked goalbound.

  19. Postecoglou proud despite Celtic defeatpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 16 September 2021

    FT: Real Betis 4-3 Celtic

Earlier, Celtic threw away a two-goal lead in their 4-3 defeat by Real Betis.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has "mixed emotions" after the loss in Spain.

"I'm really proud of the players, against a quality team we took the game to them," he tells Celtic TV.

"We hung in there right at the end. I can't ask any more of the players. The football we played is the kind of team we want to be.

"We scored three goals away from home and created many more chances.

"I don't think there was much between the teams. We probably had an equal amount of chances and they took more than we did."

Ryan Kent has looked more like himself tonight. He's had two shots, one key pass, and been involved in seven duels as he tries to press out of possession.

Regardless of the numbers, he's just looked sharp.
