Manchester City forward Phil Foden, speaking to Sky Spots: "We had the game of our lives today. Everything went right, a lot of possession and chances. We dominated from start to finish.

"(What went right?) Possession, picking the right times and when to hurt them. Really pleased.

"We knew we could exploit the space in behind and we picked the right times to do it. My team-mates found me a few times in behind and on another day I could have finished the chances.

"We got in at half time and said we had to keep up the possession game and I thought we did that really well.

"Massive confidence going into the international break - important to get the win before that. Delighted.

"It was very important to get back to winning ways."

Sam: I thought Ronaldo is a big game player. Come on, he’s weakened the team in my opinion. No press from the forwards.

Matt: This loss is in ways even more worrying than the Liverpool game. At least LIV looked nearly unplayable in that form. City did not look THAT good and we still could not generate any attacking threats or look like we had a chance to compete.

We said Man United needed a quick start and not concede early. After seven minutes they were 1-0 down. It could have been prevented so easily.

Then we saw a 10-minute period after the second goal where City absolutely turned up the charm and had five chances, every one of them was stopped by David de Gea. They can't rely so heavily on their keeper.

This isn't the same as the game against Liverpool, I don't think we'll ever see United get hammered again like that.

But something's missing. There's some drive not there that should be here, it's a Manchester derby, everybody should be up for it.

The disappointment is that the players don't have the ability to adjust to what they're up against.

TV switches straight to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he heads towards the tunnel. More questions about his future.

He claps the United fans who bothered to stay to the end.

City's players have headed to where their fans are seated as Blue Moon echoes around Old Trafford.

It certainly looked like Gabriel Jesus was caught in the area earlier.

Maybe VAR got caught in traffic and didn't get into the office.

Absolutely no sign of a United comeback. It's been lacklustre and now the rain is tipping down. Storm clouds over Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo slides in on Kevin de Bruyne. It's United's first yellow card of the derby. Fair to say CR7 is frustrated.

Corner to City falls to John Stones whose shot on the turn flashes narrowly wide.

United have scored three times in the 90th minute or later this season. They need two in the dying moments to secure one point.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is fortunate as he makes a mistake on the edge of his box which goes unpunished. City are in complete control with around five minutes of normal time remaining.

Rua: When you pretend to yourself that United are a plucky Championship side giving it a go in an early cup game, we don't look too bad.

Another impressive performance by Phil Foden and he goes to close sealing the points with a shot from an angle which clips the outside of the post with David de Gea beaten.

That came after Donny van de Beek gave the ball away.

Jay: I'll always have respect for what Solskjaer's done for the club as a player and the positivity he's brought since the Jose Mourinho days, but we need an elite manager to take this club forward and build a proper team who work as a team.
