Sho: When you look at the United starting line-up and the formation, then look at the bench, you wonder what's happened in this third season where we were supposed to be challenging. It's such a mess.

Oliver Camp: Predicting a cagey half hour and then the game will spring into action: 3-2 City at full time. KDB to score, not only for my Fantasy Team...

Michael Reid: Ole is by far more more of a negative manager for United that Jose ever was. Hopefully the negative tactics pay off!

*I'm going to scream if there's another international break.

Last weekend's home defeat by Crystal Palace has left Manchester City's title defence in trouble.

Despite beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in September, they are now five points adrift of Thomas Tuchel's side. In addition, their goal difference is nine less that Chelsea.

With Kevin de Bruyne not yet at his best and Jack Grealish producing in bursts rather than on a consistent basis since his record £100m transfer from Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola definitely has issues to deal with.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to get a result today. A draw will probably suffice given how good Manchester City are but he cannot risk a painful defeat. He is missing Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani.

Cavani is a big miss in particular because he does that amazing running around Cristiano Ronaldo up front and helps make this new 3-4-1-2 system work.

Harry Maguire has done a very good job for United in different times. He’s a leader in the dressing room. When you come back into the side you look in front of him – they can’t get a system that helps him. At United when you don’t get a result, all the mistakes are highlighted. The system will help him if they stick to a back three.

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Manchester United's win over Tottenham last weekend was a good result but if you actually watched the game, Spurs were absolutely hopeless. Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Atalanta was a better gauge of where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are at as a team.

It was United's 'big three', as I call them, of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes, who did for Tottenham and scored in the Champions League too, but they shipped some bad goals in Italy and I can't see them keeping Manchester City quiet.

    Lawro's prediction: 1-2

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's position as Manchester United boss still under intense scrutiny and Chelsea piling the pressure on in the Premier League title race, the 186th Manchester derby at Old Trafford will have far more riding on it than just local pride.

The game itself is framed by United's horrendous 5-0 home defeat by Liverpool a fortnight ago, which has generated so much uncertainty around Saturday's hosts.

Another loss against a major rival so soon afterwards will be difficult for United - and Solskjaer - to swallow. But defeat is not without its consequences for Manchester City either given their early-season form.
