Manchester United

Manchester United caretaker boss Michael Carrick, speaking to BBC Sport: "Slightly disappointed to be honest. We went ahead. We came here to win the game. To go 1-0 up and have it taken away from you is disappointing.

"That intent and that hunger summed us up today. We knew it wasn't going to be free flowing football at times but we were prepared to dig in.

"It probably looks easier when you go two against a keeper but it is a little cat and mouse. He [Jadon Sancho] managed to score and I am pleased for him."

"It has been a decent couple of games. It is mixed feelings because I shouldn't be here if things had gone as we wanted. I felt like we lost out on it today because two wins would have been better."

On if Ralf Rangnick had any influence on the team today: "It is not the case, no."

Femi: Two points dropped. Tuchel got the selection wrong. That was a disastrous result for Chelsea.

Jared: Those are 2 points by dropped for Chelsea against a bogey team. It's because of that poor start, missing clear chances.

Ex-Man Utd midfielder Roy Keane: "Chelsea were always going to dominate the gamer today so it is no surprise to see the way it panned out. We thought United would have to pick their moments and said at half-time if they were going to take anything from the game it might need a bit of arrogance from Chelsea at the back, which is how it proved with the goal."

"United stayed in it. They gave away plenty of chances. To say they played well today? I don't think they even played well in the week, but they got a couple of good results and that is what you want to fall back on."

Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am happy, absolutely happy. I saw a huge effort. We put the pressure up high, we were brave and courageous. While they defended deep we needed the first goal to open up a bit. If you don't score you always run a bit behind, you feel you are the stronger team. We had some chances we maybe should have used but in general I am happy how we played.

"There was a nice piece of play in the last minute. Would have been deserved but OK, we have to live with it."

Asked if it felt like he was playing against Ralf Rangnick team: "No. Not at all."

On how close it is at the top of the table: "We cannot be surprised. Things like this happen. We played such good games against Burnley and Manchester Untied and feel disappointed as we think by far we did enough. Over a long season you drop points and you dig in and try to steal them back if someone steals them from you.

"We are in the middle of the race and this is where we want to be."

Sam: Not starting Ronaldo earned MU a point tonight. Credit to Carrick for the bold call and a note to the incoming manager. Gutted we didn’t get all the points.

Peter: Can we start to respect Fred? Granted he is not the most technically gifted player but his work-rate cannot be questioned. Dude does his job plus that of two other teammates.

Manchester United

"I don't think it was a penalty at all. They have had a lot of shots David had two saves which we knew before the game he would have to make one or two. Other than that I have felt quite comfortable in the game. Of course we want to be better. I am not getting carried away but I thought we defended well. I cannot fault the boys one bit.

"To come away disappointed and to feel like you have left something out there is a positive."

Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to BBC Sport: "It can happen in football, unfortunately it happened twice to us, it also happened against Burnley.

"I am absolutely happy with the performance. We dominated from the first minute, we were aggressive and never stopped attacking. Unfortunately we scored two goals, one for each side."

On Rudiger's late chance: "It was a big chance, if he maybe hits the target it could have been a fantastic end to a fantastic performance but we have to swallow the result. We played very well and I am happy.

"We were very disciplined and sharp. I am happy with what I saw, it was a pleasure to coach on the sidelines. We can not guarantee results but if we play like this we can increase the chances for results."

On Lukaku's late cameo: "If he is fully fit he is a starter for us but he is not at the moment. It was more than I actually wanted but we were so close to the opponent's goal I thought maybe he could help with his presence."

Sky Sports

Ex-Man Utd midfielder Roy Keane: "It is a big point. Chelsea were by far the better team. You see the stats. They should have gone on and won the game. United were spirited and stuck at it. They got a lot of blocks in and that is part of the game. Especially when it has not ben great. They will take a bit of momentum into the season now. A good win in Europe and hopefully they can kick on."

Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, speaking to Sky Sports: "We already improved against Villareal, we won, qualified and now we played a very good team away from home. The effort of the team was very good. They had the best chances. For me it is not enough, a draw. We are in a tough moment. I am proud of the effort of the team.

"On the pitch, in the goal, I was feeling danger for nearly the whole game. We defended well, they missed big chances and the one they give us a chance we score. It is not enough to draw but at the moment it is a big point.

"The last games before we were conceding three or four goals. We are improving. This is just two games. At least now we are defending well. We are fighting for every ball. We are a team."

Nick: A point at Stamford Bridge against a very good and very talented Chelsea side. I'll gladly take that. Now onwards and upwards under Ralf Rangnick.

Mike: Better Utd teams have been beaten at Stamford Bridge so I will gladly take that point.

It was a floated ball in, Antonio Rudiger had too much time, he almost connected with it too well.

He's gutted, he's still got his hands on his head and he knows how big of a moment that is.

As a player, you know you can score, but the game slows down when you have that much time and Rudiger's just put his foot through it.

Antonio Rudiger is still strolling about the pitch with his hands on his head. He still can't quite believe he missed that late chance to take all three points.

That should have been the game, Antonio Rudiger should have scored. He had time as well he came in really well, he kept his eye on it but he's absolutely tried to take the leather off the ball.
