Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd
David de Gea is off his line very quickly to beat Timo Werner to a ball over the top.
Has the Manchester United goalkeeper tweaked something? He is limping a bit after making that clearance.

Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd
Manchester United happy with what they have? They've shown no attacking intent and not even looked like causing any bother on the counter.
Still early days, though.

... every Manchester United player is back and that is enough to deal with Reece James' free kick as Scott McTominay heads away.

It falls to Callum Hudson-Odoi - has to score. They haven't dealt with it well, Man United - but it's a brilliant left-footed save from David de Gea.

Manchester United technical director Darren Fletcher is on the bench and looks like he is wearing an ear-piece. Wonder who he might he be in touch with?

What a start to the game. I thought Man United were going to play defensively but they're pressing. They're front-footed, aggressive.
Maybe Bruno Fernandes was dropped against Villarreal because he knew he'd be playing today and this was the way they'd be playing. They're playing in a diamond in that midfield. It's a high-intensity game already.
Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd
Manchester United are chasing shadows at the moment as Chelsea zip the ball around the pitch confidently.
Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd
This is NOT a routine save though!
Awful defending by Victor Lindelof and Callum Hudson-Odoi is in on goal but David de Gea makes himself big to pull off the save as Hudson-Odoi tries to clip the ball into the far corner.
Big let off for the visitors.
Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd
Early intent from the hosts as Hakim Ziyech hits a shot on the turn inside the box. There's "oohs" from the home fans but in reality it is a routine save for David de Gea.

Michael Carrick has to think about whether he'll be at the club going forward or not, he has to think about his own career and to get the result.
He's taken the gamble to drop Cristiano Ronaldo and I'm sure Ronaldo is smart enough to understand why and he'll be itching to get on the pitch.
I do think it's the right decision against this Chelsea team and they're the right tactics.

Kumaran: Based on this team selection, Carrick showing he wants a more hard working gritty team as at Villarreal and not afraid to make the tough decisions. No Fernandes last game and now no CR7.

No snow in London as the players come out on to a crisp green pitch.
Michael Carrick played in his fair share of Chelsea-Manchester United clashes over the years and he'll want to put on a show before handing over the keys to Ralf Rangnick.
Brentford 1-0 Everton
Everton
Everton manager Rafael Benitez speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we had a lot of crosses, 14 shots away [from home] so the team was pushing and pushing. We were trying to create but it was not easy because there was a lot of bodies in there.
"We were fine. We gave them some hope in the first half but in the second half we wanted to push. The team were doing exactly what they had to do - push, push. The quality of the final pass and the movements makes the difference against a team with lots of players behind the ball."
On Abdoulaye Doucoure's return: "When a player is out for a while you expect he will give everything and he did it. In the first half he was a little out of position but in the second half he was better."
On the Merseyside derby against Liverpool on Wednesday: "Every game is important for us. Obviously the next one is more important because it is the derby. We must learn from the mistakes we are making.
"When you lose games it is not easy. It is football, sometimes like today you have chances and you push but it is not enough. The only thing is to keep attacking and try not to make these mistakes in defence."

JT: Brilliant team selection from Michael Carrick. Pack the midfield and stop Chelsea's mobility. Not the game for CR7, super sub later.

Manchester United
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on BBC Radio 5 Live:
"It’s difficult for Michael [Carrick] as well. Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] was saying his goodbyes to the players, it’s not a good feeling when you see someone who loves the club as much as he does, someone who loves the players that much – he gave it all to see us succeed and it just didn’t work out.
"It’s tricky for Carrers because he was part of that but he’s done tremendously to very quickly move all the drama aside and focus on the next game.
"You can’t change the past, it’s impossible, but we can affect what happens in the future. That’s very much our mindset."

I think it's the game plan to go back to what got United to second in the league last year, sitting back and hitting teams on the counter.
If they go toe-to-toe with Chelsea, they'll get absolutely battered.
Michael Carrick will be defensive-minded, they'll exploit the space left by Chelsea's full-backs with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho breaking forward, then Cristiano Ronaldo will come on and make an impact at some point you'd think.

Mark: Absolutely massive win for Brentford. It’s these sorts of results that keep you in premiership. As for Everton… no win in seven is relegation form. Yikes!
