    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to the BBC: "Surprised with the amount of chances we created against them. We created a few. The first half was almost impossible to play. The game against PSG was so demanding and the team gave a good performance.

"We have an incredible groundskeeper. Thanks to them we could play.

"The chances we created... it could have been three or four. The players we have out... those that came here were brilliant. All of them. We cannot forget which opponent we played. They have everything."

  2. 'Very difficult'published at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

FT: Man City 2-1 West Ham

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Rodri: "It was a very difficult day because of the weather conditions but it is always difficult against this team. We were lucky to get this first goal because in the first half we couldn't play much. In the second we dominated and could have scored more."

  4. 'They wanted it more than us'published at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

    FT: Leicester 4-2 Watford

    Watford

Watford striker Joshua King, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think they played better than us. They wanted it a bit more. We lost to a side that showed a bit kore determination. It is a tough ground to come to. They have played alongside each other for a long time.

"They was winning every second ball and were more aggressive for us. It is special circumstances with the weather but it is the same for us as them. They put their chances away and we wasted a few. They were there for the taking and then Lookman scored.

"Horrible to play in. You have snow on your boot and feel heavy. I have not witnessed a game like that before. I couldn't see anything. But it is the same for both sides."

  5. 'Their keeper was trying to get it called off'published at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

    FT: Leicester 4-2 Watford

    Leicester City

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is different [the weather]. You see with the ref having to stop it. These are things you have to deal with. You have to stay professional and we did that. At one point their keeper was trying to get it called off with the ref. But pitches have the undersoil heating and we weren't worried."

"We know when Madders [James Maddison] gets on the ball he has that creativity. It is about making the runs for him.

"It was a massive win. We got a good win on Thursday and we want to keep that momentum going. Games come thick and fast now."

On Claudio Ranieri's return: "He got the reception the fans wanted to give him. We knew it was down to business on the pitch, though, and we wanted the win."

Lewis: United's line up is a bit of a concern for me. Look like FIFA tactics but overloading the middle could work well if they keep possession. No Ronaldo means no focus point. Chelsea need possession and may need to sit deep for this one. Not ideal for snow.

JB: Carrick's gone for a narrow diamond against a team that overloads the wings. United are gonna get absolutely taken apart this game. 5 - 0 Chelsea at least.

  7. 'Right call' to bench Ronaldopublished at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

Chelsea v Man United (16:30 GMT)

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think it's the right call [to leave Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench.]

You understand what Ronaldo's about and the sort of player he is, but he's not going to press, he's going to play a bit-part role in the game and maybe score you a goal on the counter.

I'm sure the plan will be to keep it tight for 60/70 minutes and then introduce Ronaldo to the game to hope he can get that goal.

  8. Carrick battens down the hatchespublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

Chelsea v Man Utd (16:30 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

The big news is Cristiano Ronaldo being dropped to the bench by Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick. It is a move that has certainly caused plenty of discussion behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge already.

Carrick looks determined to have what he holds before kick-off with the inclusion of Scott McTominay, Fred and Nemanja Matic in midfield.

  9. 'A decision to pick a team, no more drama than that'published at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

Chelsea v Man Utd (16:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United caretaker boss Michael Carrick, speaking to Sky Sports about why Cristiano Ronaldo is on the bench: "Few tweaks and changes from the other night, freshen things up a bit. Gameplan, ideas. Had a good chat with Ronaldo and he was great, we have decided to go like that today.

"It is a decision to pick a team, don't think it needs any more drama than that. Everyone is fine, all the boys who have come out of the team have been terrific, Crisitiano included and ready to come on if needed."

Right then, we'll keep across the reaction from the early games but now to look ahead to the big game between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Let's tackle the small matter of Cristiano Ronaldo being on the bench first. Here's what Manchester United caretaker boss Michael Carrick had to say...

  11. 'Magic' from Lanzinipublished at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

FT: Man City 2-1 West Ham

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

He's capable of the magic isn't he, Manuel Lanzini? He's capable if producing moments of genius.

He chests the ball down, lets it come across his body, swivels with his right foot and just lashes it into the top corner, Ederson no chance.

  12. Watford have a lot of work to dopublished at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

    Leicester 4-2 Watford

    Michael Emons
BBC Sport at The King Power Stadium

Leicester get the three points in a hugely entertaining game played out in blizzard-like conditions.

Jamie Vardy got two, while the excellent James Maddison received a standing ovation after scoring one and setting up both Vardy goals. Ademola Lookman also scored for the hosts as Claudio Ranieri suffered his fourth defeat in a tough opening six games in charge of Watford.

The Italian has to sort out his team’s defence as they gifted Leicester goals today. The hosts move into the top half, Watford, who have Chelsea and Manchester City to play in the next week, have a lot of work to do.

  13. 'What a clinical finish'published at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2021

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

What a clinical finish from Fernandinho as it falls to him on the edge of the box.

It comes from the patient play from City, they win the ball off West Ham, it's lovely pull-back to the edge of the box and then what a finish. Game, set and match.
