A couple of times Iceland have pressed high, chased the loose ball and all of a sudden, they are on top of Belgium's goal and are unable to get in front.

Tight, tense and with not too much quality on show so far.

Iceland had the best chance but could not convert a penalty, awarded after a video assistant referee check, but Berglind Thorvaldsdottir saw her spot-kick saved by Belgium goalkeeper Nicky Evrard.

Chance for Belgium right at the end of the half. It falls to Elena Dhont after some one-touch link-up play, but Dhont, 12 yards out and central, although under some pressure, can only side-foot the chance wide when she should have hit the target.

Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir is lucky to not get herself a yellow card, sliding in late and catching her opponent, but she gets away with one.

You have to think that set-pieces, corners and free-kicks are Iceland's way of getting themselves ahead of this game.

They've shown glimpses, particularly Brynjarsdottir who is aerially very strong.

The goalkeeper dived the right way. But we needed something to liven up the game. The goalkeeper's save would do that.

This was a massive opportunity and she guessed right but the penalty wasn't quite in the corner.

When that happens, they will always look like terrible penalties. That needed to be hit harder and in the corner. You have got to score on those chances.

It's saved by Nicky Evrard in the Belgium goal! Jubilation for Belgium, despair for Iceland as Berglind Thorvaldsdottir's penalty is saved.

It was not the best hit penalty, Evrard dives to her right and hangs on to the ball. Belguim survive.

It's given! It had been a cross from Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir and Jody Vangheluwe has her arm outstretched and although she was pretty close to her opponent, that's a definite penalty.

Davina Philitjens complains too much and gets a booking

Bad times for Belgium as the referee, Tess Olofsson, goes to check a pitchside monitor. Iceland could have a penalty here.

Iceland want a penalty as the ball has come off the arm of a Belgium defender. It's going to be checked.

I've noticed today that Belgium have matched Iceland. Iceland were always going to keep their 4-3-3 shape. But Belgium have changed to 4-2-3-1 so that they can mark in central midfield which is quite interesting. They are worried about the combination of three in midfield for Iceland.

Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir is just about to shoot at goal, 12 yards out and in a central position but it's a superbly well-timed sliding challenge from Belgium's Jody Vangheluwe and she gets the ball.

She may well have stopped her country from falling behind then. Excellent defending.

We see the first sign of the long throw of Iceland's Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir and it's a heck of an effort, reaching the six-yard box.

Belgium can only partially clear and it then falls to Dagny Brynjarsdottir but she can only send her effort well over the top. Scrappy.

The Italy game for Belgium is last, so they'll know what they have to do if they are anywhere near progressing into the knockout rounds.

Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir beats her marker and gets free down the left but Belgium manage to smuggle the pull-back clear and Iceland are still yet to have a shot on target.

On that earlier chance for Belgium's Cayman...

She did well, Cayman. She might have slipped as the ball comes in and got the wrong side of the defender. Iceland are relieved to see their goalkeeper picked the ball.

The Belgium men's boss is the coolest fan in the house as he watches on from a packed and noisy Academy Stadium.

Thirteen minutes in and Iceland's 2,000 fans have just done the first Viking clap of the game as Belgium's fan band belts out tune after tune.

Brilliant atmosphere.

The Icelandic 'Thunder Clap', the soundtrack to the men's side's performance at Euro 2016 when they stunned England to get to the quarter-finals, gets a first outing at the Academy Stadium. Great fun.

A corner for Iceland after it comes off Tine de Caigny. Belgium fail to deal with it convincingly and it eventually falls to Gunnhildur Jonsdottir, but Janice Cayman gets there in time with a crucial challenge as Jonsdottir, under pressure, can only shoot it wide of goal.
