Denmark can't get out of their half, which isn't ideal when they need to score.

Instead it is Spain who keep creating chances and Olga Carmona tries her luck from the edge of the box but the substitute's shot is blocked by a defender.

It's an early Mexican Wave for the crowd to entertain themselves - in the opposite direction compared to the waves we saw against Spain just over a week ago.

Finland were already waving goodbye to the tournament before this game got started and are now hoping to avoid a really heavy defeat in their last match.

However, it was always going to be an uphill task for them after a horrendous draw saw them in with the eight-time champions in Germany, the pre-tournament favourites in Spain and a Denmark side that reached the final last time out.

Head coach Anna Signeul will just be hoping Finland keep the score down as it would be a miracle for them to get something out of this one. It's three, after substitute Nicole Anyomi gets in on the act with a low strike, and there's still half an hour still to play.

    Denmark 0-0 Spain

Spain keep pinging the balls into the box, Denmark keep heading them away. It feels like Spain are going to need to do something different if they are to score.

You can see what it means to Nicole Anyomi and the Germany players, they all celebrated with her.

She has made an impact since coming on and everyone is so pleased for her.

Anyomi reacts in the box, a good touch out of her feet and the goalkeeper was unsighted.

She is a full-back but an attacking one that gets forward.

German thoughts are starting to turn to next Thursday and their quarter-final with Austria at Brentford.

Austria have their work cut-out on this evidence.

Bonmati played well in the first game against Finland, she really shone, but she struggled against the German press and we've not really seen much of her in this game. We've seen more of Caldentey in that central midfield.

It's not often in this game that Spain have caught Denmark and attacked that Space because Denmark have held that shape really well. Spain are trying to score that perfect goal, you don't have to score that perfect goal.

When you set your team up to just defend and to keep the scoreline down like Finland, it is about what you do when you go forward. The players make the wrong choice and the wrong movement and that has to be worked on if they want to go to the next level.

  20. Popp making her mark after injury nightmarespublished at 21:13 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

    Michael Emons

You do fear for Finland now as they could be on the end of a real hiding here.

Alexandra Popp scores for the third game running for Germany in her first Euros after ankle injuries kept her out of the previous two editions.

Popp, who played for Wolfsburg against Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals in March, also suffered a serious knee injury last year which kept her out of action for 10 months before returning in the spring.

It's yet another headed goal that Finland have conceded and an assist for substitute Kathrin-Julia Hendrich after only being on the pitch for a couple of minutes.
