    Finland 0-1 Germany

No hint of any easing up from Group B winners Germany in that first half. They've been sensational and the only good news for Finland is they somehow managed to keep it down to just the one goal in their net.

There will be much tougher challenges for this Germany team in this tournament, but the way they're playing tonight, with 66% possession, 21 shots and five corners in just the first half, it shows they are a side that's going to take some stopping.

Finland have given everything, they've just been outclassed. But, it's only 1-0 so who knows what could happen?

I like what I see. They are playing good combinations but it comes to what happens in the box.

I think Spain need to be more aggressive. All three strikers have to have a bit more confidence.

This result is good for us but Harder is really dangerous when they get the ball on counter attacks.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

    Denmark 0-0 Spain

Chances, but no goals as yet.

Spain are going through to the quarter-finals as things stand but there's a long way to go.

  6. Breakthrough...finallypublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

    Finland 0-1 Germany

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Stadium MK

Gala's Freed From Desire blasts around Stadium MK and the only surprise is we've only heard the goal music once so far.

Germany had been knocking on the door since the opening minutes and finally they make the breakthrough. It's a fine move down the right wing that sees Svenja Huth release the overlapping Giulia Gwinn.

She gets to the byeline and stands up a cross into the middle and Sophia Kleinherne is there to head into the net from six yards out for a long-awaited and much-expected Germany goal.

For Finland, it's yet another headed goal they have conceded after three of the four goals they let in against Spain came via headers, with the other one being a penalty.

Germany have showed they are relentless and ruthless. They are definitely a contender and one of the favourites for this Euro competition.

  8. CLOSE!published at 20:46 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

    Denmark 0-0 Spain

    Off the line!

Spain are denied a goal before half time as Irene Paredes' goalbound header from a corner is cleared by Simone Boye.

That's as close as we have come to a breakthrough.

The question now is: have the floodgates opened?

Finland have two and a bit more minutes to survive before the half-time whistle.

Cool from Kathrine Kuhl. Her nice footwork and close ball control sets up a crossing opportunity on the left but it is poor and scooped up by Sandra Panos in the Spain goal.

That's the first time really that Spain have caught Denmark out of shape. It's about decision making, football is about it and making the right decisions at the right time. They're putting the ball in the air and don't really have the players to meet it with their head.

    It has been coming.

It is good play from Germany, they have been dominant down the right and the way they link up and interchange, it is great ball through to Giulia Gwinn, a great pickout to Sophia Kleinherne who meets it with a solid header.

    Definitely well deserved.

Athenea del Castillo flies off down the left after a Denmark attack breaks down. She then waits for support on the edge of the box but decides to have a pop at goal and curls a decent effort on target but too close to Lene Christensen.

    At last!

It's another lovely move as Svenja Huth's pass allows Giulia Gwinn to cross for an unmarked Sophia Kleinherne to nod home from close range.

They've had about 1,999 chances. Finally, Germany have the lead.

The only criticism about Germany is the final pass is lacking, I have been so impressed with Klara Buhl in this tournament but can she find someone at the end? She just can't do it.

Spain's passing is really crisp and now another good move ends with Simone Boye having to slide the ball behind as Athenea del Castillo threatened to get in behind.

Just over five minutes to go until half time.

    Finland 0-0 Germany

If Finland can get to half-time at 0-0, it will be a victory in itself after such a one-sided match. They've got about nine more minutes to survive. By the way, Giulia Gwinn is back on the pitch after that knock earlier.

    Oooh danger for Denmark.

Lene Christensen drops a catch at the feet of Athenea del Castillo but Janni Thomsen does really well to get her body in the way as Del Castillo attempts to stab in.

They move so well up and down the pitch as a unit, Spain. They stay close together, half of their mind when they're in possession is what they do well they do lose it.
